Okay, while I don't like the government sticking their nose anywhere it doesn't belong, the truth is that the Amish "organic" farming is a bunch of horsechit. I've seen how they and the Mennonites peddle their goods using the "produced on an organic farm" lie. When I was a mail carrier, I had numerous Amish and Mennonite dairy farms on my mail route. You could not have paid me enough to drink the milk, even though a few of the Mennonites were half-azz clean. A lot of them were downright nasty, and how they passed inspection was anybodies guess.
Yet, people go all apechit thinking that because something is Amish made, or Amish produced, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Meanwhile, they're hanging up their Organic Farm signs, and raking in the dough that the ignorant customers are giving them, mistakenly thinking their getting the best that money can buy.
There is a resturaunt near here run buy Mennonites. Nice enough place. Made a point to get there and try it when it openedsome years back. It was ok. Tried it three more times, mostly because folks raved about it. The last time was the worst meal out I've ever had. (Lived on the road for years, I've eaten out a lot) Every single one of our 4 meals sucked.
Never been back.
Still, 3/4 of the people that mention the place rave about it.
Of them, 100% are the type to be impressed by the ownership and the scripture/inspirational messages on the chair backs, walls, tiles....
I'm a thinkin'! theys a thinkin', they gonna get a special seat in heaven, eating with the A-mish and such.
