Looking at buying a 99rs 1937. No reciever sight and has butt pad added. grooved forend.No sling studs. .300 savage, wood and metal in very good condition. Sorry, can't get pics. Can you guys give me an idea of a fair price?

That's correct no extra holes. Are rs guns heavier the a g or eg?

I' guessing what you are looking at is a 99R, not RS. They might be a little heavier an EG but not appreciably. The gun you described is just a hunting gun has no real collector value.

What Drew said. A 99RS would have studs, they came from the factory with them.

99R's are great hunting rifles. So price it that way.. what would you pay for that gun to hunt with or shoot at the range with?

The trouble is I now have 11 1899/99s. All are shooters and I enjoy them in the 303, 30-30, .300 and .284. the one I am looking at has the groove around the forend wood. Does that make it an r or rs?

The 1930's/1940's 99R and 99RS had the groove around the end of the forearm.

The 99RS also had studs, a sling (usually gone by now), and a peep sight.

99R (this one has a plaque insert into it, definitely NOT factory)
