Wife and I are heading to Western Arkansas in a couple weeks for a little get-away. We don’t have any particular place to visit so we are open to suggestions. Any old time gun shops would be a bonus. Any ideas?
Thanks, Skinner

You might find Mena interesting. Kinda touristy, but pleasant.

Mount Ida is the first place that comes to mind. Pleasant little town.

Hot Springs - Arego's Guns and Ammo
NW Arkansas-Ozark Armory in Springdale, Benton County Gun Works in Rogers, Ozark Sportsman in Springdale.
No real old time gun shops up here anymore but the above are good stores.
Crystal Bridges Museum is in Bentonville and it is well worth visiting.

Baker’s pawn and gun in DeQueen is one of those stores where you used to could find old scope rings and stuff like that that had been on the shelf for forty years and hadn’t been made in twenty.

If you like 1911s, Wilson Combat and Nighthawk Custom are both in the Berryville area.

Momma used to always ask me when I was mad about something she’d say "are you out of snuff?" Or “he’s just out of snuff, that’s all". Hell I’d forgot all about that Sharpsman! 🤣🤣🤣

Western AR is one place that’d be on my list to retire to if I ever left TN. That loop from Ft Smith down to Mena, west into eastern OK, and back up towards Sallisaw always struck me a pretty remote and beautiful. I like it around the Ozark area as well. It’s really nice North of Ft Smith, just be aware that Fayetteville’s urban sprawl is getting pretty huge. There was a pretty neat little gun store out in Barling, IIRC, just out of Ft Smith.

Gun City is in Barling. Also, just a few miles from there is Chaffee Outfitters (mostly new stuff).
Saunders Museum is in Berryville (opens 10:30 which is kinda late) and it is worth going to. Good food in Eureka Springs just 12 miles to the west. Great Mexican food in Berryville.
Call Nighthawk and Wilson Combat as they might give you a tour of the facilities.

Wow thanks guys! That gives us several options. Since we live in Southeast MO we have traveled in the eastern part but I know that area is MUCH different than the western part of the state.

Several very large "pawn" gun shops in Ft. Smith. Saunders Museum in Berryville is unreal...Don't believe Wilson Combat is offering plant tours anymore since Covid. Good luck and have fun.
Safe travels.
