I've been tweaking this Howa Mini 6.5 Grendel, trying to get it under six pounds. Swapped scopes on it, and got it down under the 6 pound mark. With 4 cartridges in it, it adds 2 ounces. My next goal is to get it under 6 pounds loaded, although it really doesn't make any difference.

I have the same gun. With scope and loaded, it weighs 5 pounds 13 ounces. You must have a heavy scope/mount on yours.
I have a Leupold 4x compact on mine.

Run it up, until you blow it up, then back it down a bit.

I've got a Bushnell 3200 3X10X40 scope, and the mounts are what appears to be Talleys. I'm thinking my scope is somewhere between 13-14 oz. I won't go with a lower power scope as my tired old eyes need all the help they can get.

Is that a carbon fiber stock? Did it come like that from the factory? If not, where did you get it?

Stocky's stocks.............carbon fiber seconds. Really too expensive for what it is, but makes for a lightweight rifle.

Depending on how it balances I would be thinking about cutting 2-3 inches off the barrel.

A 7-8lb gun is perfect for me. Not sure why I’d ever spend $$ chasing weight on a rifle.

Same here JM. 8lbs loaded and ready to hunt feels great to me and settles nice over a pack.

I like my hunting rifles weighing in the 7 1/2 to 8 pound range, but I just wanted to see how light I could go and still have an accurate rifle.

Mine is in a stock from Wayne the Mini Man, and is under 6.5 with a Trijicon Credo HX 1-6 in QRWs on Warne bases. Really like the 18oz scope, so am gonna tough out the “extra” weight.

Have a Carbon .223 in progress, and it’ll go about the same with a Tract 3-15. Both will be just slightly heavier than my FC with a Accupoint 3-9 in Talleys. Good balance helps them remain shootable at those weights. Toting them around is a pleasure.

Scallop the action and flute the bolt, that'll get you under the 6lb mark.

A Leupold VX-2 2-7 is under 10 ounces if I remember correctly, and still plenty of magnification.
