I don't know a lot about the Mech Tech Carbine Conversion unit, but it looks interesting.

We've enjoyed ours, just wish 9mm was 8 bucks a box again.

CZ Scorpion with a brace is my go to inside the house. 35 rounds of Critical Duty in it at all times.

I've played with a few 9mm carbines. The high point actually done way better than expected the real downside is the cleaning it's a b**** to disassemble to clean thoroughly. If I felt like life dependent on it my Glock mag feed AR 9 would be what I would grab...

PCCs are an interesting option though limited in range and effect over say an AR.

The limited exposure I've seen with 9mm in actual use on two legged varmints was disappointing. That is, with mil ball ammo. Unless you get a CNS hit, you wont get the results you want.

That said, If you use a good hollow point (Critical Duty springs to mind) it should work well.

They are a barrel of monkeys to shoot!

Oh, and Tikkanut, friends don't let friends HI-Point.

Hi Point 40

I have enough hand loads to run in it a long time

I can drag it behind the SxS if I run outta room in the cab

Most likely still function

I'm going to ask that everyone stop mentioning Hi-Points now.

Enough is enough.

I swore that off, and it went right back to being 100% reliable. It's certainly an improvement over a handgun out to fifty yards, in terms of ease of keeping groups tight.

Yep. Folks like to talk schitt about the Sub-2000. Those that do probably never shot or owned one.
Mine, one of the earliest versions, fed all kinds of ammo reliably. From +P Factory JHP, to ++P 115 gr JHP handloads, 147 gr Hardcast TC flat point Handloads, and even CCI Blazer 9mm with the aluminum cased ammo, and even some steel cases import stuff that my nephew bought at a Gun show.
Never once did it fail to feed or go bang in the several years I owned.
I ended up giving it to my nephew, who still hasn’t been able to make it jam or miss feed.

It would also shoot 2.5” 50 yard 5 shot groups off of a bench rested on sand bags. And about a 4” group at 100 yards.

I have a mechtech that I use with my g19 lower.
It hasn’t let me down so far.
I also have one for my g20 that is also a hoot to
shoot.

I have one in 9mm on its way
Wonder what 9mm ammo would be good for home defense?
Something with relatively low blast for home defense.

I am thinking maybe 147 grain standard velocity or even 147 subsonic.

What ya think ?

Should work?
I have had zero issues with the different ammo I have run through it. I haven’t tried home defense loads so I can’t
comment on that.

They are a bit heavy so the sensitive cry babies
may not like that. The weight doesn’t bother me.

Did I mention they are fun as h ell to shoot?

For 300 the Hi Point is a great value. The Ruger is certainly a better gun but its about 3x as expensive.

I built 9MM AR "pistol" for my wife, it's fun to shoot but not as effective as a .223.

I have one of the original Ruger PC-9s. It has the worst trigger I have ever suffered, but it has been stone cold reliable. One of few guns to have survived Hurricane Katrina's saltwater inundation. It is not pretty, but it works.
