AMERICA lost the Civil war, my friend.

America won! It kept the Union intact!

You sure about that? Kinda like saying a overbearing control freak husband saved his marriage by beating his wife into submission and forcing her at gunpoint to stay with him. Yeah, I can kinda see how that saved the marriage and the nation. I'm sure the husband is real proud of that accomplishment as were/are the Yanks.

The unfaithful wife started the fight and got an azz whooping. Cry me a river.

Had the Confederacy won it would now be a bunch of snarking fiefdoms who broke away from The Confederacy ultimately. After a few years many would have begged to be allowed back into the Union. You crackers would be just like Europe in the 19th century.

Cracker here.

Just like most other states in the Union, the cities carry the weight.
Upstate is a beautiful area, great hunting ,fishing, plenty of outdoor opportunities.
The cities ruin it.
I also believe GOP voter turn out has been poor the last 2 cycles, very hard to compete with Unca sugar as well.

I have no intention to pass through most any §heat hole state in the Northeast! My definition of NE being anywhere to the east of Minnesota/Iowa!

Love it, just could never live there.

If you could excise a core 100 miles wide with NYC at the middle state politics would most likely change.

You are referring to NYC not the state. We just get hammered with all the BS that should not pertain to us. If you've never been north of NYC I can fully agree with you. Get to northern NY and you wouldn't think it shared the state with the sewer city.

Danny’s right. Up in the part of NY he and I and Mart come from it’s an absolutely beautiful place…remote and very politically conservative. Our home county is twice the size of the state of Rhode Island and has a population of just over 100,000. There are a lot of great places and great people in NY, but they’re way outnumbered by that toxic, urban chancroid down at the bottom.
Don’t forget me too Chuck. The north country voted 65% for Trump in 2020. Urban centers dictate how a state is viewed. Last I heard Colorado and Virginia were blue states. I know for a fact, that there’s lots of good conservatives in those states, but their cities paint how they are portrayed. As to giving my tax dollars to a leftist regime, why don’t you guys who bellyache about that, man up and quit paying your Federal income tax. There’s not many state governments that are to the left of what the Feds are doing.

You may add Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, and Minnesota to the No Fly List as well as any others with wonky gun laws.

Adjust the core down as needed and use it often.

America would be a 2 party system,
Conservatives and Rinks.

Hell, a couple cores and Cali. would be red.
Very few states would be blue with an urban area or two excluded.

Which Civil war?

Past or present?

Liberty lost, too few see that. The South was denied the same privilege the Founders wrote into the Constitution when they sundered themselves from their legitimate government in the late 1700s.

I do tend to forget about New Jersey, because there's no apparent reason to go there and it's so easy to go around.

Well, apologies to all you fine people in Upstate NY. But you're living in enemy territory, so you'll excuse me if I never come to visit.

I left over three years ago for all the obvious reasons. Although there are places and people I miss fiercely, my wife, the boys and I have no regrets. And, for the record, Danny, Mart and I are from Northern NY, not Upstate NY. There's a difference.

Now, now, now... Everyone please, just take a breath, and relax...

NY State (as I remember it as a kid in the 60's and 70's) no longer exists, today... frown
Thankfully, I enlisted in the Coast Guard and moved away and never came "back home".

Even today, as grandparents, (my wife I hitting the 60+ year mark), we have absolutely no desire to EVER return back to NY State, even though all our family members are still there, (trapped there -- in my words)... There is NO WAY IN HELL that I would allow my grandkids to grow up in NY State in today's world! Nope, nope, nope, ain't happening!!
