Twenty years I've been in Alaska. Not a snake to be found. And I still jumped five feet today when I stepped out of the shed and saw a rain wet, slender, barkless branch, the right color and taper, with just enough curves and just the right shaped knot for a head. And an hour later my buddy from Alabama jumped when he saw the same stick.
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.
Killed a couple of diamond backs in the same day a few times. First time for a diamond back and timber rattler. Diamond backs are aggressive compared to the timber rattler.
I'd love to have one of those big canebrake skins. I HATE these freaking things.....
That's a trophy!!!! If I see one like that he's going on the wall . They just don't get that big around here.
Wide angle lens makes it look huge. The bed of that truck is 4’ wide plus a little to accommodate a sheet of plywood. We don’t give a 4 footer a second glance most of the time

There sure are a lot of America haters that want to live here...
A lot of you need some type of bodyguard going in the scary woods by yourself if you are worried about a snake...

All you need for a snake is a stout switch about the same length as his body. Longer is better but not needed as they can only strike about 1/3 - 1/2 their body length. The bone structure in their head and spine (and anywhere else for that matter) is very delicate. One good whack on the noggin with a half inch stick and they're done.

.45 just put a hole in his head.... Did the job though.
Nice shootin'.
Didn't waste much meat there!
Was a pretty big target...
His head was as big as my fist.
Yep. The big ones like that I’ve killed at the Ranch have a big ole head. Makes for a great target with a 1911 or a 44 special. Had one of those big bastards chase me out of the barn 4 or 5 years ago. Seems like those big ones are very territorial. He got almost a full magazine from my 1911 before I got off the trigger. The next few times I had to go into the barn at night after that, I carried my Class III Shotgun or AOW. It’s a 870 12 ga Remington with a pistol grip and a 7 or 8” barrel. Makes a hell of a big ole flame thrower at night with just regular ole 8 shot dove & quail loads. 😬

I carry a 7 foot long solid fiberglass rod 1/4 inch thick to whip them across the back to break it.
Learned as a kid from my uncle while Wade fishing the swamp holes in E Texas Neches River bottom. When a moccasin would follow your cork or Lucky 13 in to you to let them get close enough and whip them across the back.
Don't try to whip them just behind the head as they can at times jerk their head back pretty fast and if you miss and it pisses one off you can't run very fast standing in 3 or 4 ft of water.

Yep - works a treat. I learned it wading around in swamps doing survey work. Go after them with a machete or a bush axe and they'll have the upper hand.
