My LGS has a featherweight in 30-06 for sale that I’m considering buying. Serial number is 7 digits preceded by “G” (didn’t commit the first numbers to memory). Very good condition with only a few small impressions in the walnut stock. What would you guys consider to be a fair price for said rifle?

750 if it’s decent if it’s a nice rifle. If you get it for less you’re doing great. A little more ain’t bad if you really like it.

But, but, but, we all "know" a 30-06 can't kill anything bigger than a mouse.

I'd also be real happy at $650

Figure in the wood plays a role, as well as location, and of course condition.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Prices are crazy in western Washington these days. If I wanted that specific rifle, then I'd be on it white on rice for $750.
Okie John
If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

Okie John Around here, the price seems to go up the rustier and more dented it is. Especially at the Richmond show.

Top end for a pusher is about $750.
Totally different beast.

Okie John Unless it’s G151 xxxx with knockout wood and “oh yeh, the old man had it in the box which we have in the back …” But otherwise yeah, $750-$800 is probably top.

I still stand by my price, if it is an XTR FWT.. Yes, it's not a Classic, but they are still in high demand. Again, if it is an XTR FWT.

Those G s/n XTR model rifles are well made.I just picked up a XTR Sporter Magnum G1900xxx.I paid $600 for mine, but it was on sale.It was originally priced at $750.

I paid $522 including tax for a McMillan-stocked XTR Fwt (WinLight) 30-06 back in Apr of this year from a local gun shop.

Different opinions, I guess, but I much prefer the XTR push feed featherweights to the later models. Much better wood on average and most I’ve seen have shot well. Fine rifles, IMO.
