Nosler's website has a max charge of 91.5 grains Retumbo at a mv of 3070 for the 200 Accubond in the 300 RUM. Hodgdon has a max charge of 95.5 grains 3048 fpm. I know a lot of guys are shooting 94-95 grains so the Hodgdon website seems more realistic, but the Hodgdon mv of 3048 seems low for a max charge of 95.5. Is one or the other a misprint? Nosler showing 30fps faster on 4 grains less seems like something is wrong. What velocity are you seeing at 94-95 grains?

I wonder how much heavier (smaller capacity) Nosler brass is than Rem. brass?

Considering the differences in brass capacity, different primers, different powder lots and different barrels - that doesn’t seem like such a huge discrepancy to me. The velocities for their respective 89.0/89.5 grain starting loads were only 110 fps apart, they’d be even closer without including the half grain difference in charge weight. I doubt it’s a misprint at all.

I’ve been using the Hodgdon book loads for a few years and haven’t ever had a whiff of trouble getting 3100-3200 with 200 grain bullets using Retumbo.

94gr of IMR 7977 with a 180 ttsx in r-p brass gets me 3280 fps. shoots very well out of my model 70.
