I have a 15 year old Shindawa. It never misses a beat. I had to replace the bubble primer last year. I rewind the spool myself every spring.

Shindaiwa or Echo. I wrapped a month old $400 Stihl around a 6x6 deck post 10 years ago after pulling on ut for 5 minutes and not firing. My 2 echos have been bomb proof. Battery is a joke for anything beyond trimming grass along the sidewalk once a week.

Milwaukee battery powered............tough line, tough piece of equipment.
Mine came with an edging attachment too.
All my Milwaukee tools have common fit batteries if that matters for you.

I have two gas powered stihls. I don't use them enough to keep the carbs from clogging up.
They'll start but won't run wide open, so not only do I have to add string to the spindle but I have to clean the carbs.
which in turn makes me use them less, not more, and makes the problem worse.
next one I buy is going to be battery.
have you paid your dues, can you moan the blues, can you bend them guitar strings

You need a 1993 Shindaiwa. Yep rather the old ones , but the new ones work ok.

Another Shindaiwa fan here. Think mine is from 1997. Lots of hard use on the farm.

How much do you have to do at a time?
I got a RYOBI battery trimmer for the wife and have 2 batteries,it gets the job done.
Have a gas powered one from ECHO in the barn and have not used it in 4 years or so.
Good thing about using batteries is it makes a break time between changes.

Tanaka, Stihl, Echo, Shindiawa, these oughta work. I did lawn maintenance 60-70 yards a week plus commercial for many yrs. Tanaka is the best I ever used. I have been through them all.
