They made a pact with the devil for help in their fight for independence. Against unbelievable odds they won independence. Every since (over 2 hundred years) they have been poor, down trodden, and one disaster after another the whole time.

Bud o' mine is talking about moving to Costa Rica - he's tired of all the BS here. I suggested he seriously consider Haiti instead.

Friends dad recently lost everything in costa rica. Retired dentist moved down and built his dream home in a nice gated community. Said his property taxes went up 1000% in 10 years andhishome started getting broke into whenever he left. Sold it at a loss and came back to the USA to collect ss. I like costa rica as a vacation spot but wouldn't go all in there. Said friend is also a poster here so maybe he'll chime in.

A sobering thought is that around the world every day there’s prob’ly around two billion people (out of eight billion total), five or six times the population of the whole US, waking up to absolutely hellish conditions.
The world really isn’t very big anymore, seems to get smaller every day, nowhere is very far away.
