McConnell vs Rick Scott

Oh the Drama!

Rick Scott is in charge of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) in charge of raising and doling out money to Senate candidates (don't ask me how he got that position).

Turtle won't back any candidate that he did not pick, and of course controls his own PAC's and operatives (why leave things to chance, eh?)

I didn't appreciate the intensity of this battle until reading these articles.

Seem Turtle is squared-off with the first real challenger to his leadership position. The importance of which is significantly escalated by the presumption Republicans take the Senate in November. But as Sundance has frequently pointed out, Turtle is quite happy to lead the minority position as he makes more money selling the minority vote. So Turtle is quite capable of blowing-up Republican chances if he doesn't get his way (take the ball and go home).

No doubt, Senators are scrutinizing this battle to see who they will ultimately support (they don't care who, just want to be on the winning side when the dust settles)

This article, though a little cryptic, says Rick Scott did raise a lot of money, but spent it all on the fund raising effort. Claims are he is developing a fund raising formula for his own Presidential run in 2024. Now some senators are pissed.

The Republican Party was never at risk of getting beaten by Democrats in this election cycle. Their biggest threat has always been themselves and this story makes it pretty clear that they have accepted that challenge.

This article, Turtle has told candidates he didn't pick, they get no money. Most notable is Blake Masters (AZ), Turtle canceled $8 million in TV ads and told Peter Thiel to write the check.

Republicans are going to lose this November. Plain and simple, their desire to push their social agenda on all Americans will keep the Democrats in control of the House and Senate.

The GOP, as usual, wants enough power (Congress) to block/slow things, but not enough (Congress PLUS Senate), to actually DO things. Even with all 3 (Congress, Senate, AND Pres), their track record of doing SQUAT (other than judicial appointments), is abysmal. Very little done in 2000-2006, and the same 2016-2018.

If you believe that it’s the Republicans pushing a social agenda you’re beyond help.

I thought it was sarcasm at first because it doesn’t seem plausible that anyone could believe that pure unadulterated bullshit, Republicans are pushing their social agenda?….what social agenda exactly? Sexually confusing and abusing children? Pushing transgender and homo bullshit on young elementary school children? BLM? ANTIFA? Climate change lies? The liberal war on free speech through censorship? Maybe the social agenda you’re referring to is the left’s obsession with killing our children in school shootings, shootings in which it’s the radical leftists that are doing the mass murders? Trying to pretend that homosexuality is normal or that being a drag queen is something to aspire to? Perhaps it’s the social agenda of abortion which is the one consistent social issue that the democrats have pushed and pushed on, crossing every reasonable line and ignoring the most basic of human rights…the right to LIFE!

Social agenda?…..maybe you mean the social agenda of bankrupting our country and sending 10’s or 100’s of billions to the queers in Ukraine?

The “social agenda” of the right exists in so much as it’s the direct opposition to the destruction the left is pushing through their social agenda. The right isn’t attempting to “fundamentally change” the country through the degradation of societal norms and values, that’s what the left is doing. The right doesn’t currently have an agenda all they’re trying to do is slow down the destruction and hoping that we can “outlive” the current dictatorship. Of course that assumes that the lying left won’t steal another election and that our dire situation can be remedied at the ballot box…..I hope and pray that we can remedy this but I fear that it’ll be through the ammo box that we’ll preserve freedom.

Anyone that believes that it’s the Republicans pushing a social agenda needs to pull their head outta their ass.

Been saying for months that McConnell and the RNC will Not support MAGA candidates, he calls them, “ the wrong kind of Republican”.

He and the RNC would rather a Democrat win than a Trump supported candidate win.

They sure didn't get any money from me. I quit giving to the RNC, NRSC and NRCC decades ago because they do nothing but manage decline. Supporting candidates like Dole, McCain and Romney is suicidal. We might as well have had a democrat leading the republican senate caucus as Mitch. he is a criminal.

I don’t think that Kimber7mm is off base. A couple of years ago yes but not now.

What changed my mind was the Biden “semi-fascist” statement. It seems that politicians have a tendency to use or fall in to a tactic of labeling the opponent with their own intent. Radical dems are adopting fascist tactics and ideology.

Rebubkicans have for years called the dems socialists when in reality they aren’t. They are worse being communistic and fascist in their intent and shifting practice. On the other hand the “socialist” claim is in reality demonstrated by the republicans under the leadership of Mitchie McC.

While there are conservatives within the party the party is certainly not conservative in ideology or practice. The party is rudderless and has no vision of governance beyond reactionary responses as a show of resistance.
