Heading from NY to Galveston Texas looking for gun shops, distilleries, and any other points of interest, especially Louisville and Memphis area. Any good eats are appreciated as well

If in Memphis, you can’t go wrong with Rendezvous (BBQ), or Gus’s chicken. Not sure of your route, but if going through Texarkana, check out Flying Burger and Seafood, with a stop.

The “Pyramid” by the Mississippi at Memphis is pretty cool. It’s a bigger than normal Bass Pro Shop store. You can take an elevator up to the observatory deck for a good view of the river.

I suggest you do anything in Memphis you want except for stop. Slow down and they steal the wheels off the car. Stop and it get's worse. Enjoy your trip! Rick

When you hit Louisville you will be entering distillery country. Many within an hour or less of the interstate. Buffalo Trace is one I visited and it is great. There are at least a dozen more in the area. You usually have to make online reservations for many of the tours.
The Corvette museum is also in Louisville.
Passing through Nashville can be brutal if you hit it during the day time. The city is out of control and traffic has followed. However you're coming from NY so this could be a "that's cute " comment.
Lots of country music stuff to do in Nashville. But honestly most of it isn't worth the hassles and expense of navigating the city.
In Memphis Guns and Ammo is a great store. Usually packed with inventory.
Graceland in Memphis if you're an Elvis fan.
Ducks Unlimited Headquarters in Memphis and has a great collection of guns on display.
When are you traveling? Over a couple days? Have a great trip. Hope it's for pleasure. -tnscouter

If you are going through Louisville and Memphis I assume you will be traveling the Western Kentucky Parkway and US-51. If so, Dixie Gun Works and their museums.
One of the places I drove by a bunch of times in trucks, "One of these days I gotta take the time to stop here." Never did.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

If you have time for a short side trip and traveling through Western KY, pretty sure a visit to Whittaker's Guns would likely be worth it to you.

google says the best way from Louisville to Memphis is thru Nashville on 65 and 40
Personally, I'd go W. Ky Parkway thru Paducah, then 55 thru Missouri

The Corvette Museum is in Bowling Green, NOT Louisville.
Louisville has the Frazier History Museum, the Kentucky Derby Museum, and too much riff-raff too many hobgoblins.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

The mammoth cave area is just north of Bowling Green on I-65. Its not really a quick stop along the way, I'd say minimum is 3 hours
I've never been a big fan of Louisville. I have to go there for a 3 day meeting in October and I am not looking forward to it.
I like Bowling Green though. Ideally located I think.
