Can mountain lions be black? Many people have heard the term “black panther,” but these are actually melanistic jaguars or leopards: a genetic trait that makes an individual cat's fur appear much darker than the usual coloration. To date there has never been a confirmed case of a melanistic (black) mountain lion.

Lots of people own full grown cats with no problems. It's not a perfectly safe thing but not sure to end in violence either. I'd love to have one about a third of that size but not enough to actually make it happen.

I still taste the soap from when I called my dog a niigger 48 years ago. Never thought about calling it a monkey.

Yep. This topic comes up a coupe of times a year for many years here at the Fire. Weird. Those are two legitimate zoological terms. He does allow those of us with more than 100,000 post to post chimpanzee and chimp, but every member should be allowed to.
Rick’s a racist!

In the early 80's Disney was filming a movie here in Utah, my next door neighbor was the only one around that had a permit for keeping large cats, he had a couple exotics, anyway the only place that they would let the cat stay overnight was at his place and I was in charge of feeding it. I was 14 years old and this Mt. lion was about 130 to 140 the only problem I had with her was going back in her cage when she was done eating. She had a huge leather collar on and Azz big chain attached to it. She would literally drag me around the yard with with me behind her. It took me and the owner of the place to get her back in the cage every night. I will never forget the cat named Casandra. And no I don't have any pics but sure wish I did.

Never trust a cat. They think they are the size of elephants anyway. My daughter's little bitty cat will chase her around the house after she aggrevates it enough. But apparently my phone makes a pretty good thumper across the noggin LOL
More video of that pet mountain lion in Russia (?).
Them Russians have some cash-o-la. Their home isn’t some stacked housing unit with walls painted in left over WW2 pea green color.

It is a pretty nice house with a pool.... not on the radar yet like the Russians who own super yachts... they are getting seized (or are sinking) all over the place.
Can't imagine owning a big cat. Heck even a 40 lb lynx will kill most any dog. Never seen one (mountain lion) myself but a neighbor had a big GSD that got eaten one night.
