Well, after a UPS goatrope, I finally picked up my new CVA Scout in 300 Blackout that I ordered a couple weeks ago this afternoon. I just slapped a cheapo Simmons Whitetail classic 4x32mm scope in some Leupold see thru rings I had laying around on it, and was pleasantly surprised with the results.

I had cooked up a few loads that were right in the ballpark of what I had been shooting in my RAR 300 Blackout, 110gr Barnes with CFE BLK. Best 5 shot group of the bunch at 100yds. I could probably tweak it in a little better, but it's good enough for me for me right now, so I'm not going to waste bullets load fiddling.

The rifle itself is not bad for the price, imo. It is almost hilariously compact... I'm pretty sure my kid's Daisy Buck BB gun is longer than this thing. The balance and pointability are very good, and the trigger is not bad at all... very little creep and a nice break. I haven't put a break scale to it yet, but I would guess it's somewhere in the 3.5# range.

My only two real knocks are that there is some weird discoloration on the steel in spots on the barrel straight out of the box, and the extractor. The extractor works fine mechanically, but it just barely lifts the spents out of the chamber, so those little casings are a fumblefest to get a grip on. I can't imagine trying to do it with gloves on during deer season.

As a whole, I'm pretty happy with the purchase so far, though. 😁

So I lied... I did end up doing more load fiddling with it. 🤣

It's pretty much a 1.5MOA rifle, none of the other loads I shot yesterday bested the one from the first day I took it out. Good enough for deer hunting, but not a tack driver by any means.

LilGun shot terrible, and H110 and 4227 were similar sized (1.5-2") 100 yard groups to CFE BLK. I'll just be sticking to CFE BLK through it, since I have a bunch on hand.

Up that scope power to a 2-7 or 3-9 and I'd wager groups will shrink...

I'm not overly fond of scopes in general. Thinking about getting sights on it now that I know it's not a buckshot thrower. Including this Scout, I now own a grand total of 2 scoped guns.

I'd moved up to 50 after I zeroed the scope in at 100 and it's still about a 1.5MOA shooter.
