Anyone got one and like how it shoots? Thoughts?

I don't have one, but a hunting buddy of mine from Glasgow, MT just bought one with the wooden stock, not the all-weather stainless steel with tupperware stock. He is favorably impressed with the accuracy and he has probably fired no more than a box of shells through it. He used the exact load he had worked up for his Browning Stalker in .204 Ruger and his 3-shot groups were under 1/2".

Does the new Hawkeye 204 have a matte for finish on the metal, or is it blued?

Doc--I would only be guessing at what load he is using. I THINK, not KNOW, he is using 25.0 gr. of Reloder 10X, but I'm not sure. He may have listed the load he is using over on the Predator Masters Board or over at the Ruger Hunting Board. His board name is Howler.

Check out the load data that Hodgdon has listed for the 40 gr. V-Max and work with those powder charges. I use a stiff load of H4895 for my 39 gr. Sierra BK load for my Savage 12VLP. If you decide to use H4895, please start well under the load I have listed on these targets and work up slowly--like no more than .2 of a grain at a time. Here are two 3-shot groups I did while testing this load and below them is a 5-shot group I did to make sure the load would give me the same accuracy with 5 shots that I was getting with just 3 shots. Obviously, I am no benchrest shooter. Whenever I have a small 3-shot group started, I ALWAYS mess it up by shooting shot 4 or shot 5.
