Haven't dove hunted in years.
Used to go several times, every year.
I'm not just a real good wing shot, but I do....ok!
To me, dove hunting was more about shotgunning than it was about the meal.
Dove just wasn't one of my favorites.

My "hit & miss" shooting ability.
The cost of ammo.
My indifference to eating dove.
Somehow, dove hunting just doesn't make a lot of sense.
They are so thick around my home, I can literally hunt my front yard....I just don't.

Rained all day here on Saturday. I heard a few dedicated hunters shooting anyway, though. Our opening day was great and a bit above average, I’d say. Corn is being harvested everywhere, so the birds are really scattered.

lousy 5 shots 3 birds. Way to hot and haven't been back out since, been 114-116 at my best field for the last several days. Thurs is the last day so might try to get out before and we've had a break from the extreme heat.

It was steady shooting in the almond and pistachio groves.

It got rainy and down into the 30s this last weekend. Most if not all doves moved to warm climates.

On Tuesday, my brother in MT welded a dove decoy and shot some doves and sent me a picture.

I have not got a dove in WA state since 1963....it was good hunting in Toppenish in 1962.

Switching back to the Almond orchard and temps are projected to be 85 not 116.

went back to the family farm in KS. and we limited each day without any problems. Around wheat stubble and ponds in the eve.

About 1/3 of the doves we saw monday remain looked like 2/3 have moved on. Tougher shots at longer range still did a limit but it was a challenge. Light breeze low 80's....mb

Nice!
Curious what loads for dove, as I assume no lead allowed.
