Well folks, in the spirit of my post "Pet Loads for 280 Remington" I have a Remington M7 SS/Synth on it's way also. So I thought I would impose on the Campers again since we had such good response and conversation on the 280 post. (I dearly hope I'm not wearing out my welcome.)

So lets see your Pet 260 remington loads smile

Thanks All

Well you sure aren't wearing out your welcome with me. I've tried a lot of loads in the 260's I've owned my favorites are: 129 Hornady spire points with H4350 (24 inch barrel 2800 fps), 140 gr Speer G.S.with IMR 4350(24inch barrel 2750 fps), 140 Speer spitzer with IMR 4350 (20 inch barrel 2550 fps) Tried lots of other combinations but these were my favorites. The Hornady 129 gr is the most consistantly accurate bullet I have used has worked well with other powders as well

42g of H4350 with a 140g Sierra Gameking and CCI large rifle primers. Very accurate round out of my remington 770 mountain rifle.

I use the exact same load with NPs in Rem brass and CCI LR primers also in the Rem mtn rifle and get excellent results.

47.8gr H4831 behind the 129gr Hornady Interlock gives fine accuracy and 2860fps from my 24" Browning Low Wall.

My wife shoots a Nosler 125 gr Partition over 42 grains of H4350 and a Federal 210 primer. That's not a max load, but it generates 2,750 fps from a 22" barreled NULA, is super accurate, and has moderate recoil.

It's also devastating on whitetails!!

Hmmm... I'm pleasantly surprised. The 280 Boys seem to prefer lighter to bore bullets, and the 260 Guy's are leaning more towards the heavier for bore weights..

Keep-em coming.. I've been doing lots of cute & paste copying from your alls experiance.

I'm like the 120 gr range.

45 gr IMR 4350 and cci br primer under a 120 sierra flat base spitzer. 2890 fps average, very accurate (sub moa) but a little explosive on deer under 100 yds.

43.7 gr IMR 4350 and Federal LR primer behind a 120 NBT. 2885 fps average and holds together a little better. Wicked accurate.

Those are my two best loads.

todbartell,

What twist are you running? I was wondering how well the Lapuas stabilize, since most 260's are twisted @ 9. Thanks.

Well, I'm not todd.. But as I understand it.. Only Remington uses the 1/9 Most others use a 1/8 or 1/8.5

I believe Remington and Kimber also use a 1/9 for the 260 Rem. The Mega bullet is a semi round nose and may be short enough because of that to work in slower twists then one would expect. I have no experiance useing them though and this is just speculation on my part.

H4350, 43gr with 125 Partition for 2875fps
H4350, 43gr with Berger 130VLD for 2900fps
H4350, 42gr with Horn 129SST for 2850 (lots of pressure signs at 43)

Varget, 44gr over Horn 95 vmax at a tad over 3300fps.

If Barnes will every put out a 100-110 TSX or TTSX I would combo that with the Vmax and be done. As it is my current plan is to settle on the 125part, 129sst or 130Berger for deer/coyotes and shoot one load for everything.

Also the 125 Nosler seconds can be had for $9.99 per 50 if you watch the site (usually $14). Thats cheaper than the last box of standard bullets I bought.

Just 2 (so far):

Speer 120 gr, 48.0 gr RL 19, Fed 210M primer

Hornady 129 gr SP Interlock 47.9 gr RL 19, Fed 210M primer

Both loads shoot to an inch at 100 yds if I do my part.

I get good results from 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips, 43 grains IMR 4350, CCI 200 primer.
I bought a pound of IMR 4350 this week. It was $29.69 plus tax.
I had sticker shock.

Damn! It`s going to cost as much to fill my cartridges as my truck pretty soon.................Last time I bought IMR4350 I paid ~$18/lb + Uncle Sams share, should have grabbed another 5lbs while I could.
Nothing is cheap about reloading anymore. I dropped $23/lb on a can of Benchmark a couple weeks ago and thought I was being robbed. mad

I don't know where else to shout it, but "YAHOO!"

I've been looking for a reasonably priced Remington Model 7 (stainless steel) in 260 Remington for several years now and have not been able to find one. Today, I walked into Dominion Sports in Winchester, VA and looked at their used gun selection. Lo and behold, a stainless 260 Rem. Model 7 with Redfield bases and rings was just sitting there.

A quick discussion with the shop owner and the thing was in the trunk of my car (of course, the paper work and credit card took longer then the decision). I paid about $475 plus sales tax -- more than I had hoped, but at least I got it. Now to the loading bench!
