I'm looking for input on a new top end for a Ruger 22/45 Mk3. I'm looking at a couple of units from Voltquartsen and Tactical Solutions.

I'm looking for something short, threaded, lightweight, and I plan to use it with a suppressor.

Does the comp come off this model, for use with a suppressor? I like the idea of a low-mounted red dot, but I want to be able to put a suppressor on it. I'm not sure if this unit allows for it, or not. Link

Can't answer about the comp on Volquartsen unit, however you can get a Maddmacs mount for the TacSol that places the RDS lower than a rail permits. I put one on my MKIV Lite and like it much better than the rail on my Buckmark. Just my opinion, but for the cost of a new barrel/receiver I'd just find a 22/45 Lite and have two complete pistols.

Thanks for the link to MaddMacs, tmitch. I poked around on their website for a bit, and ran across their XBAR upper with the integrated sight base. Man, I like that! With a 2.5" barrel, it should be subsonic with just about everything.
