I was "saved"(?) by LBJ's lottery of 1969.
IIRC, my draft number was 324.
Hating college, I dropped out and went to work full time.
By the time 'Nam ended in 1973, I had enough seniority to hold a full time job rather that pick up dribs and drabs off the "extra board".
If I had been drafted, the union would have held my seniority date. If I had quit and joined the military, I would have lost my prior service as seniority.
I have regretted many days that I never served in the military. I think my life would be quite different with that experience and those benefits under my belt.....or I could already be pushing up daisies in some cemetery with a military headstone!
Who knows?
Maybe God had/has other plans for me! ....but He's gonna hafta hurry! I'm 73 years old!

Anyone who hung around to be drafted in LBJ's stupid war was mislead.
All of our younger enlisted were college grads who did wait to be drafted. USAF, Navy and USCG.

First of all Thank You for your service.
My lottery number was 335 in 1970. So I knew getting drafted wasn't going to happen. On top of that due to Rheumatic fever at the age of 2 or 3 left me with a defective heart. The military wasn't interested anyway. So I am eternally in debt to all who have served and are currently serving.

PS: I just got back from a cruise with Carnival and they have a veteran appreciation event on board. I was fine until they played Taps.
