Would someone please tell me which model they recommend more? I'm looking at the XD9 because it's $60 cheaper and comes as a package. (However, I heard the accessories it comes with suck.)
I've read a lot of mixed reviews but I'd really like some feedback from those who own or have used both guns.
Also, this will be my first gun purchase so I'm hoping for some informative responses. Thank you!

I'd go for the XDM. It has a "match grade" barrel and trigger for better accuracy, better ergonomics with the interchangeable backstraps, a larger magazine capacity (at least the XDM 40 does over the regular ol XD), longer barrel, extended mag release, and some other accoutrements. One of my favorite pistols is an XDM 40. It is very accurate, holds 16+1. I've never had any failures with it. Great pistols made by Springfield Armory. Others may try to talk you into a Glock or S&W, but there is not a damn thig wrong with the XDM. It's the one I use as a home defense gun, so I trust it with my life. If I had to choose between the XD and XDM, it would be an easy choice..

The only place where the M model shines over the XD is mag capacity and the ability to mount a RDS. I shoot a 45 so the mag cap is the same either way.

I bought an xd40 18 years ago and a xdm 10 mm last year. Both are just find, over 10,000 rds. through the 40 still going. Hold it in your hand ,shoot it if you can and choose the one you like.

Agree with previous comments. I don’t have an XDM yet, but might buy one someday. I do have an XD 40, an XDS mod 2 40, and an XDS mod 2 OSP 9mm. All three are great pistols, and I have no complaints. Pick the one that you like the best, that fits your needs and wants, and your hands the best, and buy that one. I got the gear up package when I bought the XD 40. Not a fan of the plastic double mag holder…but I’ll take all the free mags they’ll give me.

I bought five XDM pistols in one day a few years back (running a sale). They fit me well and I can hit with them. The household guns are all 9mm Compact 3.8" models.

The "truck pistol" is a full-size 5.25" 40S&W XDM with 5 extra magazines in a satchel.

My "outdoors pistol" is a full-size 10mm.

They are a good pistol, and accurate out of the box, IME.

I still have three. XD, XD Tactical and a XDs, all in 45 ACP

I've owned both XD and XD-M pistols. IMO the now discontinued XD-M is a better pistol due to the grip ergonomics and interchangeable backstraps.

The new XD-M Elite's have improvements and are better than both older XD series models.
