How much are you all paying per pound? I'm talking out the door price so this number will include shipping, hazmat & any sales tax.
Reason I'm asking I just picked up 5 lbs of Reloder 26 off a buddy at $55 per lb. Unsure if it was a fair deal for him, l just paid him what he asked for it. I was almost out of that particular powder so I'm just happy to get some.

I wish I could say, but I haven't seen Alliant locally in a couple years at least.

$55 per pound is by definition absolutely fair to him (and to you), since that is what he valued it at, and what you were willing to pay for it. Value for Value - the core of civilization. But there are probably some folks who would have fought you for the chance pay that for RL-26 these days. Glad you and your friend made a good deal. Rex

Some will say as long as you're happy, that's all that matters. Others will say that if you continue to pay high prices, prices will remain high as sellers are given more confidence.
I'm working a deal for 100lbs of now discontinued IMR 4320. I expect to pay $25-$30 per pound. The same seller has several 8lb jugs of IMR 3031 for $210 each plus a bunch of other powders. I don't need that much powder but I sure won't pass up a decent deal.

My LGS has Reloader 10 on the shelf fpr $65 per pound. They have been there for at least 6 months. Alliant seems to be more expensive than other powders.

About a month ago Powder Valley had some 15.5 with a max of 4lbs, after everything it was just under 57 bucks per pound, including shipping, hazmat and they now charge tax.

I don't need that much powder but I sure won't pass up a decent deal. Wasn’t all that long ago that a number of people here were calling for high prices to prevent hoarding. Guess they got what they wanted, price-wise anyway. Unless someone in the industry fesses up about the wholesale prices and production costs, we’re all just guessing about why most powders are so spendy now. I’ve seen some at almost normal price, sitting alongside others that were sky-high. WTF knows? The LilGun I bought a few months back was $33 IIRC.
What fresh Hell is this?

In the past 6 months the MSRP of Hodgdon Extreme powders have increased three times. Current MSRP is $60.99–$62.99.
The newer Alliant powders generally run 3-5% less, so I’m guessing MSRP is currently around $55.
TAC has been available for around $265-$270 in 8lb jugs. That is from production runs earlier in the year. TAC isn’t as expensive to produce as the newer powders, but allegedly the price will be going up.

Fortunately I have not had to buy powder on-line as my LGS has been stocked pretty well. I bought this RL-15 six months ago. The Retumbo was for a fellow forum member from south Texas. The latter being extremely hard to find. This was purchased a month prior.

The most recent price I have seen for bulk nitrocellulose, the main ingredient, is around $1.50 per pound.

I would have felt sorry for everyone that has posted until I drew a once in a lifetime muzzleloader tag this year..........Blackhorn is $50 for 1/2 a pound making it the most expensive powder on the market that I am aware of, I sat down and figured it out at $1.52 per shot !!!!!!!!!!!
