I watch my dad get so pissed at his chainsaw so many times it took me many years before I finally bought one.

Agree! I have 7 (or 8?) chainsaws various brands, and if I keep them maintained they work well. But I tend to favor certain ones for quite a while. And the older I get I favor the smaller ones.

I have a small Homelite XL2 that is a sweet limbing saw, but has gotten to the point where it stalls if turned to cut horizontally. Prolly air leak into the case.

That last sounds like my Stihl 193t. Runs like a top horizontal, dies when you turn it vertical. On a top handle arborist saw. And nobody here has been able to fix it to where it lasts more than a couple weeks.

SK7:

Was anxious for you that you were just a Husky saw guy. The Stihl in the picture is redemptive. It's a good'un!. Chortle.

I use 'em both for building log cabins, and they are both good for firewood.

Did your dad work out of town every other week? If so, I may have found my long lost brother mom sometimes talked about.

Get a Stihl or Husqvarna and go forth and slay some wood. Time has demonstrated that these 2 are consistently on top of the hill.

Watch Guilty of Treeson youtube videos...those guys can teach a lot.

Whichever saw you buy, learn to use a file to sharpen the blades, not some hack gadget that takes 20 minutes to setup and 5 seconds to wreck your blades.
