How fast could one expect to safely push a 120gr BT or TSX out of a 24" tube on a 7mm Rem Mag? If some are already out there doing it what has worked best for you? Thanks, Ryan

Never tried a 120...140s will run 3300fps in a 25-26" bbl. At least in mine.

Gentlemen,

On my Remington 700 7mag will only give me just at 3000 FPS with the 140 Gr. Noslor Bal Tip. My loading data is 66 Grs. of IMR 4831 w/ Fed.215 Gold Medal Match Primer and Noslor Cases. My accuracy is just under 1/2 groups @ 100 yds.

Im estimating betwen 3300-3400 with 71 Gr RL-22.

Ive got it about 1.75 high at 100 and its dead on at 250
Groups at 100 range from .5-.7 inches

One shot, one kill........ It saves a lot of ammo!

Don't know how old your gun is...24" or 26" bbl...but that is not near 7mmRM performance velocity wise. I have read or heard of some that say otherwise, but in a 26" bbl, IME, 3300 is pretty easily doable. That's 10% more than your gun/load, and a difference I'd deem significant. Like someone else wrote...@70grs of R-22! If a 24" bbl'd gun, then 3250 would be what I'd look for.

OR, it could be that is all you're looking for, and that's fine too.

I have a 24" barrel and I use 69 grains of Reloader 22 and the 120 BT. It shoots 3100 fps.

Thats a lot of gun to carry, and powder to burn for the equal of a 25-06.

Was trying to tame the recoil without installing a muzzle break.

For an easy-shooting, accurate load, I run 140BT's over 65gr of IMR 4831 in Winchester brass. It shot very well in two 7mmRM's and lets me burn up some of the extra 4831 I'm trying to get rid of. I figure it to be making 3,000fps or so.

Now with even more aplomb

I get 3260fps with 68gr H4831 and a 140gr accubond with .350'' groups with my M70 24'' 7RM. Here is a crappy pic but shows the accuracy.
