Hi All: My friend, Tom George, has a Winchester Model 70 in 7x57mm that he may be selling and he wants to establish a ball park price when people ask him how much. It is a Model 70 Featherweight. It has Winchester on top of Trade Mark on the left side of the receiver and that is all above the stock line. The barrel has 7mm Mauser marked on the left side of the barrel at the chamber area. On the right side in the chamber area is marked Feather II. There are no other markings on the barrel. There are no warnings on the barrel. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />The stock is a lighter color stock that has been refinished with Lindspeed oil. There are some light handling marks (about five all together) on the stock. I am guessing the rifle was manufactured in 1986 or thereabouts. It has a serial number of G1,808,xxx. It has had the action area glass bedded. Tom likes my CZ 550 American in 7x57mm and he wants to get one, but cannot keep the Model 70 and have a CZ as well. Oh yes, it has Redfield bases and rings. It is an average shooter, not exceptionally well, but good enough for hunting. I think it has a 1x10 twist barrel. The rifle's blueing is intact and I would hazard a guess of 98 percent. He has a POS Simmons 4.5x14x40 A/O scope on the rifle. What would this rifle be worth, approximately that is, without the scope, then with the scope. The scope has one ring bark on it and is about a year old. Thank you for any help folks.

Last MSR was $562.
In 1981, during U.S.R.A. takeover transition, guns were distinguishable by the U.S.R.A. trademark on the recoil pad. Some collectors will pay a premium for Win. marked pads. Cals. .257 Robts. and 7x57mm Mauser were disc. 1985.
This model had an "XTR" suffix until 1989.
The Simmons will make practicaly no difference IMHO, I'd leave it on the rifle.
