Recently lost my rangefinder on an elk hunt.

Need one to cover targets, archery hunting stalking and tree stand, and rifle hunting.

My last was a vortex 1300 and I found it to be a bit lacking in the snow at ranges over 500 yards. I was thinking about getting the crossfire 2000 model from vortex. Is there a better option in the sub 300 dollar price point?

Outside your price range, but the Leica's are still the best I have tried when it comes to ranging fuzzy brown critters against fuzzy brown backgrounds.

Most rangefinders are great at ranging stop signs and big rocks, but fuzzy brown critters are a different matter.

I have a Vortex Ranger 1500 that I do like for what it is and what it cost.
