chipy, there's just something about revolver shooting that makes me happy. You and me both, brother. There’s so much about the autos, particularly a well tuned 1911, which makes them more efficient and easier to shoot extremely well. But, the revolvers own my heart. This topic deserves its own thread.

When I want real power in a hand gun I reach for a revolver. And, this is at the lower end of the power scale for .45 Colt in a Ruger Blackhawk:

I've got a soft spot for revolvers, as well, and shoot them regularly.
I cut my teeth on double action revolvers back in 1980. They are what I learned on.

Not a hard fact, but in the general sense, when I shoot autos it's for practice. When I shoot revolvers it's for fun.

Is that a Police Positive Special there, Hawkeye? One very popular variation of the Police Positive Special was the Detective Special, commonly called the Dick Special. So, the advertising copy for it could have read something like: “When faced with a felonious assault, do what so many thousands of private detectives and plain clothes police officers have done since 1927, pull out your Dick.” I carried a Detective Special as my off-duty gun during my first year on the CHP in LA. In late ‘68, I was walking from our apartment complex, parts of which were still under construction, directly into the enclosed parking garage when I encountered two burglars loading a stolen role of carpet into the bed of a pickup which had been backed into the garage. I pulled out my Dick and stepped behind a pillar for cover as I challenged them. They beat a hasty retreat, the stolen carpet hanging out the back of the pickup as they disappeared into the night. The investigating Downey PD Officer asked me why I didn’t shoot them. My reply: “Wasn’t my carpet.”

I have to agree, REVOLVERS RULE. They're just cooler, and more fun (for me at least) to shoot.

My own favorite, a Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley in .480 Ruger.

STI 2011 Staccato is pretty cool. It has a hammer, so it’s sorta like a revolver. 🫤 🦫

I have two semi's in 9mm. Of revolvers, I have four in .357, one 38 sp and three in 22 rf . Kind'a says what I like.

I bet I own 5X the revolvers that I do autos, mostly S&Ws as they are my favorites. I don’t shoot paper much but carry one of them the majority of the time I’m out kicking around the weeds. As such I’ve shot a bunch of critters and even more rocks and other targets of opportunity over the years. 44 mag Bisley Hunter 625-2 Single Six 16-4 36-1 16-4 again 15-3

Who did the re-barrel on your 63? Thanks, RS I did, a bit over 40 years ago. I turned the barrel from a “shot out” Hart .22-250 bench rest barrel, a gift from a range buddy, using my Sears Craftsman lathe. The reason for the project was that this particular S&W 63 left the factory with its cylinder face seriously out of square (rubbed the back of the barrel on one chamber, grossly excessive gap three chambers away). Squared the cylinder face on my lathe. Then, rather than setting the original barrel back accordingly, I just made the new barrel. It shot so well, I drilled and tapped it to accept Weaver scope bases. And, voila: super deluxe rodent eradicator extraordinaire. Performance with a scope at 50 yards is pretty much the same, except that it allows for engaging smaller targets:

I resolved the semi/revolver dilemma by simply acquiring a revolver in 9mm: Quick reloads using the “clips” are completed slicker than gorilla snot. No wonder Jerry Miculek likes ‘em.
