I need cheap binos for the deer stand to serve as a back up. They need to be $40 or under as I don’t mind is they go missing during season….

A garage sale set of Bushnell Sportview binos would work well. We use those at the cabin and I really like that rocker focus bar instead of the dial on all my other higher end binos. Craigslist under Sporting Goods should have some cheap ones too.

My other auto is a .45

Look for a pair of Sightron Blue Sky on used list somewhere. They are selling new for $100 or less on closeout at Adorama.com...

Try and find some Kowa 6x30 or Leupold Yosemite. You may find some used or on closeout for not much more than your range. I really like them in the woods/treestand.

Never fails - not to be pi$$y but what part of need to be under $40 don't y'all understand?

Boxerdog, first I would not waste my time looking at any roof prism at this price- so go with a porro.
I did some looking and found Celestron has a 7x35 porro.
7x35 is THE perfect size for a deer stand bino in my opinion - my favorite config.
7x35 will give a wide and steady field of view and a sweet spot for magnification with unfinicky use (exit pupil) and brightness.
Celestron is a trusted enough name for me to bite.

Celestron Landscout 7x35 is $31.95 on Amazon.

I have never seen or used them but it is where I would go given your parameters - and fair chance to be pleased at bang for buck.
Crapshoot at the price but think it is what you are asking for.

I have a set of Bushnell Sportsman Binoculars 10x42 with the neck strap & soft case. You can have them for $50 shipped.
They were about $100 new when I bought them.

Pretty much sums up it up.
Maybe paper towel tubes for larger zoom?
On serious note.
There is no free lunch with glass.
Just spend little more and have something for long time.
eBay some nikon monarch 3, 10x42 in low $100s

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I just bought an Athlon 8x42 Argos, made in China of course. UHD glass...sonofabitch, these things are awesome brightness and clarity. Compares favorably with my Zeiss classics on the USAF optical resolution chart. To my door from Cameraland for 180 bucks during the Labor day sale.
