As one ages the bones need additional warmth. Especially to ward off the ravages of a cold bed.

Not for me. I can't stand to sleep warm. I generally sleep without covers in the summer and with only a sheet in the winter.

Using one now, it's great for keeping warm without having to light a fire and the dog likes to sleep on the edge that hangs off my chair

Rented an old farm house for cheap once. The 100,000 btu propane heater couldn't keep the frost off the walls in the blizzard of 78-79. Legtric blankey saved the day & night.

Yep, with the price of electricity and natural gas - that might be the only way to survive this winter. Turn the heat to 45F inside to keep the house from freezing - and turn on the electric blanket so you don’t freeze to death in your sleep.

Not for me. I can't stand to sleep warm. I generally sleep without covers in the summer and with only a sheet in the winter. This. I would like to keep the house at 64° year round but momma likes it about 67° in winter and of course too much $$ in summer to keep it below 71°. No extra heat for me as the wife calls me a human furnace.

Under pad, goes on at 10:30 goes off at 11:00, great when climbing in cold sheets Had a "Bunk Warmer" when i drove for a suckass company that wouldn't let you idle the truck to sleep. 12v, it pinned to the mattress. Some of the best sleeping I've ever done. Bunk vents open, a little ice cold air blowing through, that heat on my back, covered by an unzipped bag...

Just pondering - is it worth it or not. Never when I was younger. For me, the colder the better for sleeping, throughout most of my life. I'd just grab another blanket if need be. But as I've aged, I really appreciate an electric blanket on the really cold nights of winter here in northern Florida, when it can get down to the 30s, and on rare occasion the 20s outside. While sleeping, I don't like using the central heat. PS In the winter, I like to put the electric blanket on several hours in advance of bedtime, so that I have a warm bed to get into, rather than a freezing cold one. I didn't used to be sensitive to that, but am now.

There's something nice about sleeping in a mildly cold room under a warm blanket.

I had an electric blanket that made noise in the FM band.

I have one of the electric “throws” I use on the couch in winter. It does not make sense to heat the entire house for just me and the dog!

We have one because it helps my wife with her Rheumatoid Arthritis. It’s made with two controllers so she can have heat on her side and I just have the blanket and don’t turn on the heat.

I've got one somewhere but never use it. I like a cold bed and it warms up nicely with just body heat.
