I have been locked down in 30 - 40 mph wind with gust to 50 for the past 3 days. (dragging a travel trailer)

Is this a common occurrence in this part of South Dakota?

Wanting to head north to Bowman, ND

I used to bowhunt antelope by Bowman. Then they had a massive dieoff from a bad winter and nonresidents weren't allowed to hunt them anymore. It's unfortunate, it was a good area.

Be patient, it'll all quiet down by about April or so.

Yes it’s common. It’s not going to get better in ND. Probably worse.

I hunter in SD black hills in 2020 in 55mph + winds.

One year I hunted pheasants in SD with several friends. One day the winds were howling, I would guess 40-50 mph. If a bird got up and got the wind behind him, it was nearly impossible to give it enough lead to bring it down. Challenging day.

Fairly normal, however, it was the first of the season for me. Went through eastbound Tuesday morning with pretty steady 40mph from the NW. Just east of the Air Force Base I saw an enclosed utility trailer in the I90 median on its side, still hookedish to the likely westbound pickup. It's totally more fun on ice. Good luck. (Seriously, be careful.)

I've been combining in this crap. Can't fill it up because the beans are blowing out of the hopper. Makes for an interesting time trying to tarp the semi

Saw about two weeks ago, a couple of Iowa guys trying to blow the goods from the harvester thing into a truck on the fly with a stiff crosswind. Chit was about 70% blowing away! Figure there's going to be a pissed off bean farmer wondering where his bushels are... (Correct, I don't know chit about farming.)

We are getting the wind in central Iowa as well. Someone south and east of us is really sucking. I'm guessing it's Illinois. All them democRATS.

Monster low over the Great Lakes and Shield, big high on the west side of the Rockies. Not blowing real hard here (maybe 8 knots gusts) but I bet Browning is getting some kites to fly.

It was too windy to be chopping corn yesterday but luckily we only had 15 acres left and the crew got it done before the wind became obscene.

Sustained wind of 40, gusts +60mph. About as windy as it gets sans a t-storm.

And I hate to see combines going on real windy days. Good luck if you start a f'ing fire!

All too common, one reason we didn't stay there. 20-30 MPH is a common "breeze" there.
