I have recently run across a pretty cool Mauser.

It is labeled bnz. 43

Still has bayonet on the front and in fairly decent shape.

Anyone know what the bnz 43 are for?

Serial number looks to be 5074

I would post picture but I can’t figure out for the life of me how to get them off my phone.

Thanks for any help

Is there any value to this since it was made there during the war?

Google search shows that they are relatively rare with only 8,000 made.

One that was sold locally to me:

The price is on par however with other K98s of similar condition, would have expected it to be more.

These are selling for a lot of money in the USA. so much; that you probably need an appraisal and might get some spirited debate. Nice clean typical K98k, no issues, easy $2000 just as a bottom entry number. Even a bayonet is no longer cheap. I hesitate to toss out a number but; it is more than I am willing to pay.

OMG !! Are you serious. This is a major BIG plus for the dollars. The USA has gone military surplus crazy and German stuff is top of pack. German, USA war time production. Very desirable. A great many guns that were sporterized are getting PUT BACK to original military configuration. I would not have one had I not gone that route myself.

In an attempt to trick the allies the Germans used 3 letter codes to identify the manufacturers of their arms. The 2 digit number is the year of manufacture and by serial number month and week could figured out except most records were destroyed by the Germans towards the end of the war.

Sounds like a really nice rifle. A lot of them have nonmatching bolts, and sometimes stocks but, are still desirable.

Why do I have to press 1, for English?
