I’m thinking about purchasing a 6.5x20x50 Burris Scope for my 223 Ruger American rifle. I presently have medium height rings. Do you think I’ll need high mount rings?
Thanks

Do you have a spare scope that will fit that rifle/ring combo? If so, compare the measurements of the scope you intend to buy with the measurements of the installed scope, primarily with regards to the front objective diameter and shape. That should tell you. "Medium" varies greatly from one manufacturer to another.

And FYI, Midway often has measurements listed for scopes on their website.

I have a S&B 3 x 12 x 50 on two custom mausers with the lowest scope bases I can find and the lowest scope rings made, Ken Farrell 30mm lows, and my scopes are almost a perfect fit. I do not think it is possible to get a 50mm objective scope lower than this setup. So one would think your mediums should work fine with zero issues. But as stated, you can't go by the low, medium, high designations as nothing is standardized. You'll have to do research to be sure.
