My opinion is that this would be attributed to climate change

I abhor the notion of eating land-bourne insects/arachnids. Yet I will pony up significant $$ to eat what is essentially a carrion eating ocean spider without a second thought.

Hopefully the folks who make their living crabbing can find a way to make their boats continue to pay during the closure.

Yep.

Just imagine the costs involved to top off a boat that size with diesel up that way.m

Boat note, dock fees, etc. They don’t just sit in harbor for free.

One of the theories of the disappearance of the crabs mentioned is that the crabs have migrated over the Continental Shelf and are inaccessible.

Did a bunch of Chinese boats recently just pass through the area?

One of my best meals ever was some Alaskan king legs at a high end place in Orlando. They were cooked perfectly and I don't think I'd ever had them done right before and for the first time realized why they were so highly regarded.

I always see the boxes of them at Costco for around $40/pound but hesitate to buy them because I'd probably overcook them or something.

You, and the restaurant, get them already cooked.

When you buy crab at the market it's either alive or already cooked.
Just steam them until warm.

Some are cooked on the boat that caught them, most quickly go to a processing plant where they are immediately cooked then frozen.

If it was such a boon to cod how come they blamed high ocean temp for wiping out Kodiak cod last year? Especially since the Gulf of AK has been cooling for the last 8 years...

He was always a step ahead. Good for him, he's the best captain on that show. He's also got strong Norwegian roots.

It’s not my claim. Stating what I’ve seen written.

I'm not saying it's the trawler fleet, but their bycatch numbers are insane.

Sig's a little man with a little boat but he has the biggest mouth in the fleet.

The kinda guy that getting within 100 feet of him on the dock just makes you want to go shove him over the bullrail.

His move to Norway probably has a lot more to do with the lingering child molesting charges against him and the fcked up extradition policies Norway has.

He's spent money hand over fist for years appealing the case his daughter filed against him.
