Feeding like crazy on some sort of midge/tiny mayfly hatch.

No stripe. 6 gars to 5' long. Man I hate those fish. One of them broke a hook.

I was piddling around some cypress knees on the way back to the launch looking for crappie and I pro released a 6 lb. largemouth. I jinxed myself by already claiming I had him after a two minute drag screaming fight. LOL. Guy next to me right after good daylight caught a 15+ lb. largemouth in a cast net catching shad for catfish bait.

What kind of goose has a yellow orange chin and a brown grey body with orange feet? 8 of them flew directly overhead at about 10 yards. I have got to get some steel shot for the old beretta and a duck stamp.

I saw bald eagles, fish hawks and enough ducks/geese to sink the boat. Most at sky blasting range but a couple limits at my range (30 yards +/-). Some kind of big old fish were jumping out of the water occasionally but I never could figure out what kind.

Yep, that was them. Thanks so much. Google says they're not supposed to be here but I could see their eyelashes.

Geno , those gar are really good eating. They’re just a pita to clean. Tin snips down the top of the back and then cut the fillet off the armor. They’re a little tough but real sweet. Cut into small chunks and fry.

Lots of people tell me that. I may have to try one. They just stink so bad and have so much slime I have a tough time with it.

Martins are a bit bigger than swallows and glide a lot, barn swallows pass through in hordes.

Once driving NW on I 37 coming back from Corpus I passed through a low-level river of barn swallows heading SW towards Mexico eight miles wide. Hundreds visible crossing the highway every moment, look to your right and hundreds more visible the whole time as incoming dots.

Ordinarily you only read about wildlife abundance on that scale in history books.
