Very nice 1955, I bought a 25-2 from Brownell’s in 1972 or 73. Price was $135. I used .45 Auto Rim cases loaded with a full wadcutter (I don’t recall the weight). I had one of those old Lyman All American turret presses and kept busy loading .38’s and .45’s. It was a really pleasant revolver to shoot. Very accurate. Sure miss those days…

This guy used to get carried around the place more often:

63-3 = kinda heavy and six shots

… before this guy came along:

43C = feather light and eight shots

Has the trigger on that Combat Masterpiece been smoothed and rounded? It was a popular modification in them days.

You left out a word. You likely meant to type: The .38 my father killed the perp with who put that .38 slug into his thigh, back in the 60’s.

Even better: The .38 with which my father killed the perp who put that .38 slug into his thigh, back in the 60’s.

Pretty cool family heirloom.

That's a Combat Magnum, not Masterpiece.

Very enjoyable thread, love seeing all these great revolvers!

I have really enjoyed purchasing older S&W revolvers in the past few years - 19-5, model 63 no dash, 15-3, 29 6.5” bull barrel, 14-2 6”, and a model 1903 in .32 S&W Long.

A friend stumped me with a photo of a S&W 3” .38spl with adjustable sights. Turns out it was a 60-4. I never knew that model existed, now I see one that has been modified with that bull barrel - nice work ExChipy.

RGK - gorgeous Colt Official Police

Shrapnel - awesome SAAs. I never see them for sale in my area.

The_Real_Hawkeye - some beautiful Colts and 5 screw model 10s!

TheKid - that 38/44 is a cool piece, would love to find one as I am sure they are easy shooting. But to me it looks like an elephant riding a tricycle with the big frame and skinny barrel.

I have absolutely no need for one but keep thinking about a single action .45 Long Colt with an octagon barrel. Who makes one?

Cotis, A custom maker like Bowen, Huntington or some other should be able to build you one.

I have a custom Ruger Bisley with a octagon barrel I bought second hand that is in 45LC and has a 4 5/8ths inch barrel. Even with the short barrel it is a little barrel heavy but that seems to help with the heavier loads. Chase your dream. I really like mine. I would just be careful going with a longer barrel unless they can keep it nice and trim.

No, a K38 Combat Masterpiece. The other two with ejector shrouds were Combat Magnums.

Pretty cool family heirloom.

My dear 87 year old mother was a school teacher for forty years, and she gave up, might be you should give that some thought.

That 63’s certainly got a serious handle on it.

Yep.
I didn't expand the image, or I would have seen the lack of an ejector shroud. Saw the grips, and didn't look any closer.
