Got fugked on a POS 2019 F-150 recently. Has 70k miles on it. After I got it home and playing with all the features I was scrolling through the info available on the dash screen the engine hours comes up. 5500hrs total, 2500 at idle.

2013 F-150 with 39K. Over half the miles on it are trips to Colorado and Arkansas, most of those pulling a cargo trailer.

Wife calls it the "Garage Queen". But it gets kicked outside in the winter so I don't have de-ice the vet truck

They can pull a cluster panel from the same model of a totaled one with low miles.

Truck is a tool. I use it.

Put 800 miles on it last two days.

4.5K when I go out west.

Another 10-12 K chasing ducks, etc.

30K a year is low mileage.

Some folks do all their own maintenance and repair, and own the truck for twenty years. Nor do we have emissions testing.

Such is the case with the one earlier mentioned running a newer odometer from a different used truck.

My 2003 Ram just turned 125 K - but then it was basically parked for 8 years while we were in the Arctic but it's been Outside twice, also. That's about 10K each...

I ain’t like a gazillion other dumbfukks that run up miles on their pickups going to the county fair to eat cotton candy or Taco bell runs, driving to pottery classes at night.

My truck is for big, or serious biz usually pulling a trailer.

Lots of little things about a vehicle can show amount of use and possible milage.
At a glance, interior wear or the amount of rubber worn off a brake or clutch pedal can be quick reference points.

I have plenty of issues with equipment I own that don't get used enough but show low hours and milage.

RVs, outboard motors, motorcycles.

The crappy gas we have today is destructive as all hell left sitting in carburetors and injectors, bearings can just rust away, rodent chewed wiring can be common.

Low milage isn't necessarily the greatest thing, it don't mean it's a instant prize.

In the early 2000s ford f150s, you could pull a fuse and the dash would go off. You didn't know how fast you were going or how much gas you had left, but it also stopped the odometer. Put the fuse back in every now and then to check the gas level. my buddies truck probably had 3 times the miles than odometer read.

Just over 80k in my 2016 f-150 also use my 1995 tacoma with 251k. Don't want to ever have have to buy a new full size pu again. So the other day I picked up a clean 2003 Pontiac Bonneville with a 120k on it cheap. It's cost was a tradeoff on depreciation of the f-150. Nice highway and around town car...mb

I worked for a guy around 40 years ago, he had a truck there he was going to sell, but first he had the drill in reverse hooked up to the speedo cable, for days....he was a prick.

If you pushed in and held the trip button on my old Crown Vic - would give the idle hours.

IIRC when I bought it - 2100 so pretty low for a cop car. Never had a lick of trouble with the engine.

We live in a pretty rural area, folks don't think much of going a hundred miles to dinner and a movie.
I was wondering the same thing awhile back, so I googled it. Saw a youtube video showing a young asian guy rolling back the odometer using some type of phone app/computer connection. Also it was alluded that car dealers have it done routinely; or it gets done by the auction places unbeknownst to the dealer wink wink.

On my 92 F250 4x4 diesel you could pull the speedometer fuse real quick before the trip mileage got to 9.6 and the miles wouldn't show up on the odometer. Your a damn fool to buy a used diesel pickup unless you meet the original owner or it's a certified used truck by a dealer. Even more so now with all the emissions BS.

Any odometer can be tampered with, bar none.

However, an experienced person could pretty much know if the readings are legit or not. There are certain telltale signs.

Also, there are certain things one can check; ie. State inspection reports, which record mileage, presuming it is done properly.

Toughest argument against odometer tampering is the vehicle manufacturer's tracking systems on your vehicle.
They can see in real time many aspects of your vehicle's performance, including current mileage.

Those were some good cars regardless of what Deflave says. Well built, and last for your money's worth
