Crazy how that works out huh??? By any logic the leverage on the base of the bent trunk would seem to break that trunk way easier than the straight trunk...I guess that microburst may have come from the right and thus the bend actually helped that trunk from breaking? Who knows but that kind of thing is what makes nature so unique...

T Inman;
Top of the morning to you sir, I hope the day is as still and tranquil for you all that is has been here.

Since it was the last day of elk season, my buddy and I wandered up into some likely spots, where I took this photo of that tree we've been talking about.

[Linked Image]

As is our practice, we split up and while he saw a spike bull and cow moose, I went without seeing game. This was the view however T, so the morning was a smashing success.

While there's no date stamp, you all will have to take my word that it was this morning and that is one of my more favorite arms, if not "the most favored".

All the best to you this Friday and have a good weekend T.

Paul;
Morning my friend.

Somehow I lost a day this week and it was Friday???

Not sure how that took place but there it is....

We were happy to find a spike bull as we're limited to 2 point or less. Season opens on November 1st for them so we'll check back in then for sure.

Thanks again for letting me know what day it is...... blush blush laugh

It's Thursday in Texas, Dwayne...but these time zones are a little weird.

Good afternoon to you sir - see I figured that part out alright.... - I hope that this Thursday has been behaving for you down in your section of north Texas and you're well.

Before I attempt any remotely (un)believable explanation, I'll say that a now passed on shooting mentor's people came from Hereford, TX. There again we see my grasp of basic geography isn't that terrible.

I'm sensing that it might be quite some time before I live this misplaced day fox paw down, you know? laugh

Perhaps I'll go dig some potatoes for a bit and contemplate my options. As of now, unless the root vegetables offer some epiphany for me, I'm not feeling confident.

A photo of a buck who was canvassing door to door in the neighborhood in the meantime.

All the best to you all down there regardless of what day it might be in my mind. Good hunting too.

Good afternoon to you sir, I hope that the day is behaving for you all down in Florida and you're well.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I appreciate it and apparently need it too.... wink

The crazy thing is I absolutely knew it was the 20th because elk season is over. Don't many of us run our lives around opening and closing days for hunting and fishing, I ask?

Anyways, this burn was 2021 and it's taken from the top of the driveway.

[Linked Image]

Night view of same spot.

[Linked Image]

It's the same burn that we were hunting this morning, but it takes 20 minutes to drive up that far, though truly it's only 17 odd kilometers by road but it is 3500'+ change in elevation.

One of the by products of the fire was way, way too many of these recalcitrant bruins showing up in the yard.

The last one was not a good guest and I positively do not approve of the manner in which he pruned our pear tree. Nor the fact that he shared no pears with us either...

All the best, thanks again and good hunting.

Dwayne, in my experience fox paws just stack up forever. Got quite a pile of em myself!

Good hunting to you too, sir. We'll see how mine goes in about 10 days.

Nice pic, too!
