Are the IMR Accurate and Hodgin powders interchangeable?
If your go to load is is an IMR 4064, is it a good chance the Accurate 4064 will give you the same result?
Thank you

No, they are not interchangeable. They are similar in application, however.

Bullet manufacture you are using preferably. Hopefully it lists that powder for your application. Always work up.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I got desperate for materials and come to find out there aren’t much of any for Accurate 4064 for my loads! I’m learning expensive lessons, buying before I research. I’ll be putting a box of bullets in the classifieds that I bought before learning the does and don’t’s of the 1:14 barrels! 😡 I use a lot of IMR for the 06, and saw accurate on the shelf and took a chance..who knew all sales on powder and bullets were final at Bass Pro? I didn’t, that’s who!

Accurate 4064 data for 30-06. Western used to release free pdf format manuals, you can probably still find them floating around online. I have a few of them on my phone.

No, they are not interchangeable. They are similar in application, however. Well said by mathman. I've used alot of 4064 for 30/06 esp in M1 Garand. Great powder. With Accurate 4064 (which I've never used) you need to start at 'day one' with it and work up loads with your bullet of choice. Reminds me of using IMR 4895 and Hodgen 4895, both of which I've used in 30/06 loadings and a few other centerfire rifle loadings. Same number, different enough both need to be considered as different powders. Both 4895's and probably both 4064's are "In the same church, but different pews'! Never forget one day in one of my main local gun shops where I observed a guy in the powder isle looking over the shelves of powder. I drifted into the isle just looking. The guy asked me what powder he should buy as he was new to reloading having just bought a used reloading setup from some guy at a gun show. Asked him what he was reloading for. He advised if I recall right .223/5.56 for an AR he had bought. He had a can of fast burning Red Dot in hand and wondered if it would work. He advised they're all the same aren't they and thought he'd try the RD. Gave him a quick 101 on powder types, burn rate, pressure's, caliber needs, etc. Advised him he needs to get some reloading manuals and books and get familiar with the process. Also have someone he knows who has reloaded some to teach him. Steered the co-owner of the shop the guys way, telling him the guy needs some TLC and help. Not the first time I've been in some shop, big box store, or at a gun show where new reloaders needed some help. Seen to many think reloading is as simple as a jigsaw puzzle, can be once you learn the basics and safeties, but always a careful endeavor. No offense 'Barkoff', but I went through a learning process back in '76 also when I first started reloading brass ammo. Seek and read as much as you can on reloading and your target cartridge, don't be afraid to ask questions here or anywhere. You've alot of posts here on the forum so evidently you've been shooting for alot of years, that's a big plus.

That's kinda scary. 60 grains of bullseye in something like 30-06. Might be pretty bad in 223 also.

Just FYI, the hodgdon reloading site doesn't work so great with Chrome on Android. At least some versions. I have to use a computer to see the min and max loads.

Thank you.
I had tried that before and got no results, I hat to hit results three times and it finally came through.
Thanks.
I load almost exclusively the 168 TTSX living in CA, I’ll give it a go since I have the powder anyway, see how it compares to the IMR

Never used it in 30-06, but it works great in my 250 and 303 Savage 99s. Velocity with it is a bit mild, but the accuracy is top notch in both rifles.

Not for a 1:14, my barrel is 1:10. I use it for 80gr TTSX bullets. The 87gr Hot Cors shoot best from it with IMR3031.

Another hitch is that the Barnes site and book does not calculate pressures. How can one calculate pressures if they are not advertised?
