^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The H&R Trapper, the first handgun I ever shot. My uncle brought it back from the South Pacific after WWII. He never told us how or where he got it, except that he got it "when he was in the Navy overseas". His Trapper was out of time and it spit lead badly, and was noisy as hell. Still, for a seven year old kid, it was fun to fool with.
As far as I know, my cousin still has that old thing lurking somewhere, along with a heckuva lot better guns of his own.

This is an altered Bulldog (barks falsetto?) .44, made using a discarded S&W 696 barrel cut down and fitted. Then, a bit of re-contouring of the frame top strap. The original barrel had absolutely the second worst bore I’d ever seen on a new revolver. The worst had been a NAA .22 mini revolver, on which the barrel had been bead blasted both inside and out (musta seemed like a good idea to somebody). Anyway, this guy now has probably the finest bore you’re likely to ever find on a C.A. revolver:

But, the question I can’t really seem to satisfactorily answer is,
So what?

That's pretty cool. I can see from your collection that you are someone who likes to have extensive work done to his handguns.

Nearly all alterations have been DIY. But, my old lathe got sold when I went to Afghanistan. I felt lost without it upon my return. Fortunately, I found a genuine machinist/gunsmith who doesn’t mind me (respectfully) telling him what to do, once I established my bonafides. We get along great because he finds my nutty projects an entertaining change of pace.

But, Wifey recently bought me a new lathe, just like my old one, except no milling attachment - yet. Once I get that, I’ll be back to full strength.

But, I’m certainly no machinist. I tend to use my lathe like it was an oversized hand tool. So, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the precision results I’ve been able to achieve. Sure is fun.

Though my alterations to hard-to-find guns drive collector/resale types absolutely insane, my guns are exactly what I want them to be.

Oh, I patterned that Bulldog after the H&R .44 American Double Action revolver my maternal Great Grandfather kept behind the bar of his Silver Dollar Wine Room in San Francisco until the 1906 quake:

Nope, no bullets. I can’t get it open to check whether the primers had been dented, or the rounds had been cooked off in the fire which followed the 1906 earthquake.

Great Grand Dad is pictured on the left, behind the bar and wearing the Fez, in his Silver Dollar Wine Room on Sansome Street, San Francisco, before the 1906 earthquake and fire:

Look closely to see the silver dollars embedded in the dark floor tiles.

I agree. I love a 1911 but revolvers, especially SA, are my favorite guns. I like to pocket carry a J-frame S&W snub sometimes.

I haven't read all 8 pages of this thread, but just a thought in passing from a guy who watches the TV show "Forensic Files" pretty regularly. The ejected empty case from a semi-auto is as distinctive as a finger print to these forensic crime solvers and if a bad guy was intent on committing a crime with a handgun, taking the spent case with them in a revolver would be one less clue that the police had to work with. Not being a bad guy myself, that isn't the reason that most times when I carry it is a J-frame .38 Special only because it is way lighter than any of my semi-autos.

My other auto is a .45

Most revolver barrels are not difficult to swap out, either. Then, simply torch the naughty one.
