Anyone have some feedback on the 6.5 147 ELD Hornie for hunting? I've shot a couple yotes with them, but nothing else. Maybe a caribou tomorrow. I know it's not a "hunting" bullet, but it shoots well in my rifle, and I'm interested in real world game performance. I've got a few of them on hand now, wondering if i need to work up a load for the 143 hunting bullet.

I had 147ELDM's exploding on contact with game at 6.5 PRC velocities.
Many others claim they work well on game including, Rich Sherman.

I've got a couple boxes of 143gr eldx factory ammo sure can't find the bullets to reload. Why use the target bullet for meat?

I have 130 ELDM and 130 TGK for my 6.5. The TGK is cheaper, shoots better at the range and is suitable for game/hunting. Just my humble opinion
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Uhh, maybe because they work great?..... Ditto. We Canucks must get seconds tho- Don’s seem to kill nicer critters for him….
I've seen more well-shot game lost with TSXs than any other premium bullet.

Should have added, these are run in a 6.5 Creedmoor, so not as hot as the 6.5 PRC.

Not the 147 but I’ve seen the 140 eldm used n a couple deer and a bunch of hogs with excellent performance.
If I hunted with my Creedmoor that’s where I’d start, can’t see the 147 being any different.
When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.

Don't discount the 140 either. Just spotted for a buddy, who had never hunted before, and he used my krg'ed tikka 6.5 kreed.
Shot a little 6x6 twice at 170yds, both bullets penetrated the onside scapula, both exited the bull. 2nd shot was for insurance, he didn't go 10yds.
Shot a bull at 60yds with the same 140 eldm. Same story. Broken onside shoulder, exit.
Eldm's are straight killers, especially out of the "puny" creed lol

My 6.5 Creed shoots the 130 ELD-m's better. They work great on deer and pigs. Haven't tried them on anything bigger. So far everything has been bang flop DRT. But they pass through leaving plenty of blood if you have to track one. Exit wound

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I have shot at least 15 deer with the 147 at about 2745 fps, from a Creed. At that velocity, they have done very well. Since they are not considered a hunting bullet, the high-velocity cartridges may not fair as well, but I can't really say.

I shoot 147 ELDM at 2985 fps out of a 6.5GAP. Up close and way out there, they lay them down. SnT
