We found a dog once that looked like it had been out for quite a while. Took it in, clean ed it up, etc. Put up fliers and such and someone stopped in the little one horse local market and saw the flier and said they'd been driving almost 300 miles from Portland as many weekends as they could, looking for the dog they- lost 6 months earlier!
You can imagine how that reunion went!!!!

Hoping you find your dog. If you haven’t already, leave an old hunting coat or shirt where you lost your dog, along with a water bowl, and check it several times a day if possible. Good luck.

The dog may yet show up for you or someone else. You could get a call any day. Hate to be negative but a 15 y/o could also just lay down and pass peacefully at any time. My 15y/o lab is sleeping at my feet. She’s totally deaf and mostly blind. She’s happy for now but I know any day could be her last. Best wishes for a happy ending for you.

I lost her at noon yesterday, so we’re at 30-plus hours.

My pups got away for about an hour a couple weekends ago. I couldn’t possibly imagine 30x the wait. Sending mucho mojo for Scout. And yep, I remember the pup pics from way back when…

Rick, my old Drahthaar took a spill down a hill she couldn't get back up in the mountains of north Idaho. She too was mostly blind and near deaf. She toughed it out for 4 days. She made her way down to the lake and was found on the beach....alive but beat up. Considering this is the hub of wolves, bears and cats....she did well.
She bounced back in a few days.
I hope you can be as lucky.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

She could show up. Having a phone number on a collar is a huge help. Would be a better chance if it was a younger dog. I had a 6 month old beagle disappear for a year and a half after she left out on a hot trail in the National Forest. Found her at the thief's house. Stopped and picked her up, there was my tattoo in her ear. They claimed they raised her from a puppy, but backed down real quick when I flipped that ear back and showed them the tattoo. Lots of folks, even kids would steal a young beagle or Lab puppy, probably not too many would appropriate a 15 year old disabled bird dog.

No buzzards, no dead dog. I sure liked the drone idea. I do not know how to fly one, but plenty do. Cover a lot of ground with a drone.
