Hey guys I’m reloading for 270, 308, & 300 WM. I’m also a complete rookie and just now building my stash of components. My lgs has a fresh stash of varget, h4350, & ram shot hunter. I have 1# each of tac, hunter, & imr4064. Should I pick up some powder now that they have it?

I'd say pick up a few more pounds of Hunter for the 270 and 300 Win. Mag. Maybe some Varget for the 308.

If so did you find any powder bullet combos that shined? Did you buy brass or bullets yet and if so what weight bullets and brand of brass? Answers to these question will better serve to give you answers

Good bullets properly placed always work, but not everyone knows what good bullets are, or can reliably place them in the field

Because you already have some Hunter I would grab another pound (at least) for the 270 and 300, Varget for the 308. Varget is very popular and generally in somewhat short supply so I would buy more than a pound.

The H4350 will work well in your 300
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

Hey, In my world 4064 works well in ALL of those calibers....not always the fastest, but ALWAYS accurate...
But If I have to give up a 100 fps a second on MV, two clicks up on the scopes elevation knob and point of impact should be about the same.
I'm never run lower than 2 of the eight pounders of 4064.

The ones you mention seem like pretty safe investments, if not priced totally out of reason. Buying local saves you, especially on small amounts. Once you know what works you can price-shop on the web for larger amounts, or reward your LGS for “being there”.
What fresh Hell is this?

Thanks for all the replies. I went ahead and picked up a jug of varget and cans of h4350, h4381, & hunter. Their prices are around the low end average of internet pricing so it’s easy to support them.

Since they have it, I'd get Varget for the .308, H4350 for the .270, and Hunter for your 300. In a pinch, you can mostly intermingle everything too. Hunter will work for the .270 and 4350 will work for the 300, and both will do if you like heavies in the 308. With all 3 you'll have some room to play.
