i have asked my self, mostly in tiring to understand the how's and the way's of things. things like how the pyramids were built . and different things from the bible. i was thinking about Jesus and how he was executed. seriously brutal ! i have built pole barns and standing poles up with out machinery can be a task and yet thats what the romans did when standing up the thing that Jesus was nailed to . it was man handled . stood up by 4-6 men . so how do 4-6 men stand that up ? there is no room for that many to even get ahold of it . then i remembered a trick we did . we put a cross bar near what would be the bottom of the pole ,about 5 feet up . why ? it gave 2 men a handle to hold onto so that they could push the pole to standing . now lets put a man on that pole . that man does not want to be there . he would likely be squirming back and forth . with out a crossbar the pole would spin because of the offset weight . if that happens how do the men push with a man in the way? the crossbar would give purchase points . it means there was no crossbar up near Jesus' head and shoulders.

AND, we depict in art and assume that they were quite high in the air............ probably not.

They built the Colosseum and then filled it up and had mock naval battles in it. I’m pretty sure a crucifixion was not hard for them to engineer.
I probably hit more elk with a pickup than you have with a rifle.
I have yet to see anyone claim Leupold has never had to fix an optic. I know I have sent a few back. 2 MK 6s, a VX-6, and 3 VX-111s.

not likely .such a task would be very difficult .they would have to have 2 upright poles next to each other simply to stabilize the lift.

there is another issue . after the person had died .how was he removed /taken down ?? if it was a cross how do you lift it out of the hole ? a cross bar would greatly help in lifting

More importantly, did he have to bring along the mosquitoes?!

Dig a pit... Put the pole in the pit... Pull it up with two ropes at an acute angle.
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

The photos i have seen of remains of crucification victims show the spikes going through the heels from the sides. And only one heel shown so it would seem that the heels/feet were on the sides of the pole and then the spikes hammered in. The pain must have been horrible.
