Fergynutts.
Kuwait prior to going in OIF.
Fergynutts ran outta smokes.
PX was closed for some reason.

Fergy asked me SFC E you got a pack of Marlboro,s you can sell for 10 bucks
Fergy was jonesing hard for a smoke.
Used to smoke cowboy killa,s back then.

No Fergy I ain't gonna sell you a pack of smokes for 10 bucks .

But if ya put 3 of those Cayenne red pepper powder packets in your mouth and open it up and let me get a pic.
I will give you a pack of smokes.

He did it with a quickness.🥴🥴🥴🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤣🤣🤗
Got his " free" pack of Marlboro,s..

2nd pic is Fergy and all of us sitting in PZ posture waiting for 16 fuuuking hours in MOPP 2 to Air Assualt into the lakes west of Ah Najaf and Karbala.

Schit weighing on my 19 yr old Assitant Javelin gunners mind like it was on many young soldiers that day.
Me and the 1sg only ones in the the company of 128 Infantryman who had been to war, only ones that had been in firefights, seen death, caused death.
Seen the elephant......

Making the rounds and just talking and bullschitting with young wolves who seemed to be out in right feild with schit on their minds.
Had a talk with Fergy, he was worried how he would do in fights.
Told Fergy your in the best trained company in 2nd Bde and you and all your friends in this platoon and Company know that.
You all bytched about all the extra training me and that adolph hitler/ rodney dangerfield 1sg came up with all with the entire O side of the house approval.

Schit other companies didnt do.
Schit other companies wouldn't do.
Schit the Bn and Bde commander would come and watch us all do.
And make comments to the whole company about us being top dog and to listen to your leaders.

While you guys were seeing other companies going home back at FTCKY.
You seen the soldiers me, the other 2 PSG's, and the 1sg sent packing to Bn Hq and Bde Hq, and the ones we chartered out the past 6 months at FTCKY during train up for this.
This past month running live fire maneuver ranges here in Kuwait above and beyond what every else is doing still.

Why do you think you are in my platoon Fergy.
I wanted you when you came here out of Benning as a private and I need you and your training that you have done in this platoon and company will snap in instinctively when needed.

Had several talks like that thruout that day with young wolves who needed some affirmation in themselves about how they would react under fire.
It is a understandable thing.
They don't wanna let their friends or leaders down or show weakness.

All part of the job...
Older dik head brother/ father/ leader who can do everything and more than you can, but I want you to be me one day down the line.

That's wpns maintenance going on down the line in the chalks.
Well disciplined and trained soldiers dont need to be told to take care of their schit.
Been drilled into their noggins that wpn,s importance to them, their buds, and their unit.
10 to 15 mins a day on your wpn and it will run....

👍👍👍

That’s another cool story Renegade and it illustrates how integral guys like you are to those young warriors. Your confidence in them as well as the pep talks you gave them individually were likely invaluable to those young men. It’s hard to describe the attributes of a good leader partly because there are so many but mostly because those attributes are indescribable. They are a feeling, a calmness and confidence that comes from being in the presence of a good leader that is contagious to everyone around him. It’s not an arrogance that follows great leaders although it’s often described as such, rather it’s the quiet confidence that a man has when he knows his job, knows that HE is the best man for the job and knows the obstacles he faces that are trying to prevent him from doing his job. Having guys like you and your other sgt that had combat experience was, I’m sure, a great comfort to your men.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again a million times……THANK YOU for your service and for caring enough about your guys to take the extra time to talk to them when they needed it.

Thank you!

Gonna post some more pics over next couple of days.

Keep the thread going.

" pics or it never happened" sorta thing
👍👍👍

JYD
Junk yard dog.
Alpha dog of the Mosul train station pack.
Seen him one day before we started drawing him in with food.
Take on 4 other dogs out by the tracks.
He fuuuked up 2 and got a good peice of the other 2 before they hauled azz.
We started taking about trying to make him a compound dog after seeing that go down.

Took me and 2 of my philippino soldiers about 3 weeks to get him to stay in the compound and trust us.
He warmed up to the whole platoon eventually.
Dog would hole up all day inside our sleeping area on the cool marble floor and walk the 3 foot patrols at night with the squads.
One sqd come in off patrol, JYD be all bouncy ready to with the next making his rounds for pets and sniffs.

It was eerie with him on patrols.
Dog would be 30 50 yds away from a sqd.
Light up a Haji,a azz and thigh a couple of times.
Give warning barks and growls.
Take a security halt/ break JYD be out front and lay down just looking around..
We finally were able to give him a detailed dog bath about month 2
He is dirty in that dog bow pic we was giving him mini baths that he would tolerate at times.
But he was absouloutly covered in rail grease when we 1st started working with him to get him to stay in the compound at 1st.

We handed him off to the Stryker unit that replaced us during our 3 week overlap.

Good dog..
Brave dog..
Loved dog....

He was about 55 60 pds .
Had a full curl over the back tail.
Around 3 yrs old.

Nothing in place to sponsor or bring back a dog back then during OIF 1.

Plus none of us would have had time or the ability like people in rear area had to do schit like that even if any process was in place.

He got to be with that Stryker unit for at least a yr after we left.

Is what it is.
