I go for dipping in the runny yolk from a perfectly fried egg. Damn right! As far as cartidges go, pretty much anything with the words Magnum or PRC in the title. Got a buggered up neck, so I'm not overly fond or tolerant of heavy recoil.

If all I had was a .308, I would be fine. It will do anything I need done. The chest thumping and my caliber can beat up your caliber stuff is fun to read though. “If I was limited to One” is another topic for discussing. Yeah, but some guys act like you'd be better off with a slingshot than a .308 or whatever the unhip caliber of the moment is.

In most of America for a Rifle the 45-70 is the Best Choice..
Especially in those areas where Property Lines are Tight..

Didn't Ruger prove the original 7x57 Mauser is still perfect. Every other development has been hopeless distraction to fool the true marksman. It's settled science.

Ghey thread. I thought the goal was to own at least one of each.

If I had unlimited resources....I would have all of it.
Its all interesting. Jim for the win. Ever since I was a young kid, all of it has fascinated me. Even with all of the overlap in performance of various cartridges, they each have their own history, character, and foibles. Oh, and the 9mm just kicks ass. Even people terrified of recoil can shoot small packable guns and ammo with enough umph to solve serious problems. My wife is one of those. She carts my kids around a lot. I have a brother who is another. I treasure the 9mm.

Well I don't need a .308, 243, 260 or anything in between because I own a 6.5CM. Not interested in anything Magnum anymore. A good 20gauge, 22LR, 6.5cm and a 30-06 covers anything I'll ever hunt.

Stupid topic, IMHO.
Any game animal hit properly cannot tell you whether it was a 6mm Rem or a 30-378. Seen poor kills and hits out of all the wonder magnums and yet the most spectacular elk kill witnessed was from a .270 Winchester shooting a 130gr. Silvertip. Shoot what you like, experiment enough and hunt with your favorite. Along the way you might just learn that shot placement means more than caliber.

300 Savage----I don't see what's so great about the Savage 99. I used my uncle's 99f----kicked like mule with that metal butt pad.
223---I had a S&W m&p-----short barrel---My ears are still ringing from it----with sponges & ear muffs on.
I'm keeping it simple---30/06 with 3x9 Burris Fullfield II-----shoot 180 grain factory loads---I'm good for anything in the lower 48.

Don't need a 6.5...have a 260 Rem!!! Funny, I used to say the same thing about a 30-06. About a yr ago I was in the market for a new gun...handled a number and really liked the feel of Weatherby Vanguard bronze. The shop had 2, on in 30-06 and 1 in 6.5prc. Looked for brass for the price, decided that the old 06 is a better choice. Loaded up some 165 Ballistic tips over John Barsness's recommended 58.5 grains IMR 4350, and viola, worked very well. Even though it is a 30-06 I am falling in love with the rifle. Funny how that works!
......the occasional hunter wielding a hopelessly inaccurate rifle, living by the fantastical rule that this cartridge can deliver the goods, regardless of shot placement or rifle accuracy. The correct term for this is minute of ego.
