Here's my thought. Go back to the soup thread.

Lol

Slaves get what they need. Free men get what they want.

Rehabilitation is way overrated.

Orwell wasn't wrong.

Think I read on here that they’re in league with Satan and the Jooooos!!!!!!

Grandad was a Mason and as far as I knew, he never had any dealings with Satan. Though he was fairly fond of a particular Kosher Deli………..

Nope. Will agree that the Shriners hospital is a nice deal.

I saw way too many half wit workers that got their job because of their connection to the Masons and Shriners and had nothing to do with their skills or abilities!

Don’t they ride around in funky looking little midget go carts and hold up traffic at intersections wearing tasseled fez hats and asking for donations?

I like Stihl chansaws.
Ive owned Sachs-Dolmar, Husky and an Olympic.
The Dolmar was really good, but Stihl for the win.

Ive known some Masons, they like Stihl best too.

Well as some of those on here know, I must join in this conversation.
I am one of the many Shriners Hospitals
has helped. My parents were devastated when I developed Polio at the age of 9 months. They were borderline poor West Virginians. I spent the next five years in a "crippled children's hospital". My right arm was flail, hung useless at my side, and my arm was totally nonfunctional. I still tried to do the things most boys did, played baseball, basketball, cub scouts, delivered papers, etc.. Then at the ripe age of 9 yrs, I was at the Little League Nite of the Charleston Senators, a farm league baseball team, and a Shriner in the stands saw me. He contacted the Shriners Hospital. in Philadelphia, they contacted my parents and asked to see met one of their WVA. I had never seen so many kids who were crippled similar to me. For the next 3 yrs my mother every prayer hung on the Shriners taking me. Then at 13, they did. I was in the hospital there for an entire year, all through the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and ALL. I entered Shriners with a single pair of shoes and for one year they feed me, clothed me, did 3 major orthopedic surgeries, an appendectomy, physical and occupational therapy, and educated me. When I entered hospital I was a B, C student, with no drive for an education. The Philadelphia school system was a tough one and no exception given for the surgery schedules of any of us. When I was discharged I had functional movement of my right arm and Shriners teachers, doctors, nurses, and therapists had totally made me committed to the idea that since I could never do physical labor an education was the ONLY way. Even though my 9th grade grades only transferred as C's I still graduated 19th out of 321 in my high school. I obtained a BS from West Virginia University, a MS and PhD from Purdue University. I have taught at Ole Miss, University of Georgia, Auburn University, University of Louisiana at Monroe. I had 17 PhD graduate students, all of whom are executives in industry.

I have not written this to brag or boast, I have only shared this with you to show what Shriners and their hospital, have done for me and many others I have known. They did far more for me than make my right arm useful, they gave me the will to thrive, do my best, get the best education I could, and to accept what I was capable of doing.

You see, most must die to see angels but I have seen them and for me, they wore RED HATS.

wabidiot,

When are you going to admit that you're do-nothing troll and not a farmer in Iowa?

Bless you and bless them for helping.

It is good that you took the chance to better yourself and did.

Many, many healthy, over privileged young folks now don't. Their state of affairs is even worse than yours was.

I'm the master of my lodge this year. I joined as a skeptic years ago and found out that the rumors are just rumors. People will believe what they want to believe no matter the truth. Like all things, even some bad actors make it through but it's the exception and not the rule.

Shriners are good. My son played int the NC/SC shrine bowl they sponsor. Really good folks helping children. Heartbreaking to see what those kids go through. Changed my sons life and mine after seeing the suffering and the good they do to help.

Aren't ALL organizations and religions??
