Congratulations on a successful trip to the woods and a great time with the kids.

Those little grey's make for some good eats.

Good deal to take kids hunting. Fun time for all involved. My Dad did not believe in taking game with shotgun. Had to be a .22, he hated shot in his meat. We used to eat a lot of squirrels when young. They had to young ones though to be fried. The old bores got put in pressure cooker. Good for you, keep taking kids out in the wild.

Thanks for sharing, love to see you out enjoying family time.
With my eye trouble all I have been able to do is shoot 22’s in the workshop to check function.
Love the firearm, mine is a 1950 or so 22/410 with solid barrels, I like them the best.
My favorite grouse rifle.

I made many a mile following gramps through the Keechi Creek bottom, chasing red and grey squirrels.
Grandma either made squirrel and dumplings or fried them up and tenderized them in a pressure cooker!
I've probably eaten a pickup load of the little fuzzy critters! LOL!
Lot'sa good memories with me and "The Ranger". Lost him in 1973!
He took me hunting and fishing when dad was working and couldn't go.

Great memories!

BTW! If you two hunt/fish together, get her to ke rrt p a hunting journal. She doesn't have to rewrite "War and Peace". Just a short narrative of what happened.
Been keeping one 20 years now. Blows my mind when I go back and read. It's amazing what you forget.

Are you sure that someone didn't release a dozen pet chinchilla in your neck of the woods (ala the Husky Wolf hunt)?

Seriously though - very nice memories and good shooting.

Congrats!

First time my dad took me hunting, he piggybacked me up into the tree stand, wrapped me in a blanket and tied me to the tree so I wouldn't go to sleep and fall out!
I was 3 years old!
That was 69 years ago! 🙂
I've missed very few deer seasons since. Probably 5 or 6!

This is the kind of post that makes the Campfire great... A photo of how you cooked them up would also be great.
