Anyone ever use these for coyotes?
They're hollow pt with supposedly a thin jacket. I'm sure I could get these to shoot very accurately.
I dusted off some boxes in the back of my bullet cabinet and found 3 full boxes, 300 bullets total. Thinking 243 Win and 240 Weatherby.

I never used them on yoties but used them one year for pdogs out of a 1-12” twist 6Br. They shot one hole groups but were erratic on pdogs. Up close they’d usually blow up but at longer ranges (300+) I’d often see the dog hunch up or fall over obviously hit but the bullet just poked through and they’d usually run back to their hole. With that said I’d use them on yoties and see what they do. Coyotes offer a good bit more resistance than a p dogs. mY brother used 52bthp sierras for years out of his 22-250 on coyotes. Never heard him complain about them.

They do not open up reliably on coyotes, p. dogs, or chucks.
ON the other hand, Berger 68g do a wonderful job. 70g Nosler ballistic tips work well on coyotes.
My two personal favorites are
60g Sierra HP
80g Sierra blitz bt

Yaddio: I gave up on the 70 grain Sierras long ago - they ARE very accurate but I MUCH prefer the 70 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips in my 240 Weatherby - for accuracy and lethality/results on Coyotes, Badgers and Rock Chucks. Use those bullets (the 70 grain Sierras) as trading stock. Best of luck to ya. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I used 65 v max and 70 ballistic tips on coyotes, in my 240 wby. They’re highly effective.

Thanks for the replies. I originally bought these 70 SMKs for a 600 yard F-Class match but never used them. I had a 1:14 twist Shilen barreled Rem 700 .243 that shot lights out with 70 grain Sierra Blitzkings. I figured the MKs would do at least as well as the BKs I did pretty good too with those light bullets. Didn't win, but was not embarrassed. RL15 made em sing.
My son has an AR10 in 243. I'll just give them to him for plinkers.
