Don't know about hinges but for my bike chain only the best wd40. You be surprised how many half empty cans I find at the dump.. Iquiring minds want to know what Nugget spends any money on whatsoever. Probably banks paychecks and sells half the loot he mines at the dump and is worth 8 or 10 mil! One of my co-workers manages my money for me. Pay day He takes me to the bank, I withdrawal x amount of money and give it to him, leaving me enough to pay my bills. He says he has a full proof investment plan and by the time I'm 80 I will be a rich man. It must be a real good plan cause he drives a brand new ford f350 and him and his family go to Europe every year for vacation. Cool. Please PM me his contact info!

I use only Group IV truly, earnestly, honestly so, real synthetic oil on my hinges because I want them to last as long as possible. That 3 in 1 stuff is garbage. It gums stuff up and leaves deposits dontchaknow. Pennzoil probably makes it.

Serious answer: Corrosion X. Awesome stuff. I use it whenever anything else doesn't, or won't, work.
IMO it falls in the multi-purpose category of mandatory stuff including vinegar, baking soda, duck tape, coathanger wire, wheel bearing grease and seafoam.
