Me and my dad are headed to units 3/301 north of Craig, Colorado for the 3rd season. Just curious if the weather is starting to push the elk down off of Black Mountain.

It is starting to but there is still quite a bit of southern facing slopes for forage. If hunting pressure gets heavy, they will head back to that deep snow rather than die. Some areas are having trouble getting into because of the snow.
If God wanted you to walk and carry things on your back, He would not have invented stirrups and pack saddles

Good luck, sir. We had an awesome hunt last week in 13 south of there. Roads and trails were pretty sloppy with snow, rain, melt, repeat that impacted some hunters getting around and pushing elk out of the tough spots. However with the single digit temps you’ll have next week, mud won’t be a problem!

How did you make out with your elk hunt? Looking to go there in 2023. Was looking at a couple private ranches
